The Windies won the series opener in quite a convincing manner. Hope’s unbeaten 28-ball 46-run knock and Powell smashing three sixes in the final over of the innings turned out to be pivotal for their side. The Windies’ bowlers followed it up with a terrific bowling performance in the powerplay as they reduced Bangladesh to 42/4. The hosts were pushed on the back foot and couldn’t cover ground from there. They got bowled out for 149 in pursuit of chasing 166. The surface at Chattogram is expected to be conducive for strokeplay and if that’s the case, it will be a welcome change for the batters of both sides who have had to cope up with the slow and low surfaces that have been dished out in this series so far.
