17 were needed from 5 balls when Pretorius fell. It came down to 16 off 4. Dhoni then finished it with 6, 4, 4 to give CSK their second win.MI slipped to their seventh consecutive loss - still unable to get a win this season yet.
CSK have themselves to blame partly for the total even getting to 155. They dropped 4 catches and missed a stumping as Tilak Varma cashed in with a 51* to give them a fighting total. CSK themselves lost Ruturaj first ball. Uthappa and Rayudu kept CSK in the game as MI kept chipping in with timely wickets. Daniel Sams finished with 4, but CSK had a fair few to get towards the end. It was a Dhoni special that did it in the end for them with Pretorius keeping Dhoni able company. He chipped in with 22 , while Dhoni remained unbeaten on 28 off 13.
The game eventually lived up to its hype of IPL's El Classico, even though the result wouldn't have pleased MI. Hope you enjoyed this game. Do join us tomorrow for CS vs RR! Until then, goodnight.
OUT!!Pretorius is trapped leg-before off the first ball. 17 runs are needed in 5 balls.
Last over 17 runs... can CSK do this?
Sixth down for CSK!The skipper too departs. Ravindra Jadeja tries to go big against Meredith, but he fails to get under the ball and ends up giving a simple catch to long off.
Sams gets another!Ambati Rayudu ends up hitting a low full toss to long off where Pollard takes a good catch. CSK lose their fifth now, and Sams finishes with splendid figures of 4-30.
Third for Sams!Shivam Dube looks to force one through the offside but gets a thick outside edge, and the sharp chance is pouched by a leaping Ishan Kishan
Unadkat strikes! Uthappa doesn't survive this time.Straight into deep square leg's hands where Brevis makes no mistake. Uthappa departs for 30 as CSK lose their third.
Hrithik Shokeen would've thought he had his maiden IPL wicket! It was a caught and bowled chance and MI would've thought they have their third wicket. Under pressure, in a big game, Shokeen held on, they thought... Well almost... on replays it looks like it's touched the ground. The on-field decision was not out. So, NOT OUT!
A second for Sams!Santner holes out to Unadkat in the deep. Mistimed the bouncer and is caught. He departs for 11.
MI STRIKE!It's an early wicket and CSK also have lost one in the opening over. He slashes and hits it straight to point. Sams returns to the side and strikes first ball. Santner is in at No.3.

Pitch report:Lots of runs in the wicket. "It is a little dry, nice and hard, and has plenty of grass on it but the big question will be whether the captain that wins the toss bats first. I think that will suit Chennai and their three spinners are going to come into play," says Matthew Hayden.
Build-up:
At the halfway mark, two of IPL's most successful teams are languishing at the bottom of the table. The El Classico of the IPL is here and it's not as exciting as it usually is because of how the two sides have fared so far. Mumbai are yet to register a win and are on their worst start ever. Chennai started with four defeats before winning a game but lost their previous game again. Which of these two will come out on top?
Chennai have missed Deepak Chahar sorely. They haven't been able to make those early breakthroughs.CSK will need their bowlers to stand up. They roped in Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana - will they play him?
MI, meanwhile, haven't had a wholesome all-round performance yet. Even Bumrah hasn't been effective enough. Brevis and SKY have got among the runs, but not enough to take MI over the line. Can they put in that required performance today? Both teams are a point of no return.
