Delhi vs Assam, New Delhi
After Delhi captain Ishant Sharma completed a five-wicket haul on the morning of the second day in Delhi to keep Assam down to 258, his predecessor Gautam Gambhir scored a fine, unbeaten century and added a 209-run stand with young Nitish Rana, who also kick-started his Ranji season with a ton. While Gambhir's undefeated 136 took 245 balls and included 21 hits to the fence, Rana smashed 15 fours in his 158-ball 110, before being Abu Nechim's second wicket of the day. Despite losing four wickets, Delhi ended the day in an advantageous position as Gambhir took the side to a first-innings lead of 11 runs at stumps.
