New Zealand hold a slight advantage in the first Test against England. However, the hosts have done decently enough after beginning both their innings poorly. The visitors hold a 60-run lead going into day 4. There will be a cloud cover today as well and swing will be available for Southee and Boult. Cook and Bell batted sensibly last evening to see England through and all depends on how they play the pacers today. If New Zealand can get a couple of quick wickets, it will not be easy for the hosts to get back in the game.

England needed to stay quiet for a while and then get a move on but they did not stick to the plan and paid the price for it. Veteran batsman Ian Bell threw his bat at a Southee outswinger and edged it to the keeper. That was a fantastic delivery from the bowler. He is getting some excellent swing.
By the way, McCullum has placed four slips and a gully. Funky!

For a moment it looked like Joe Root had been caught at square leg off Trent Boult. He had a flicked the delivery towards the on-side and Corey Anderson had caught the ball as it was dying down. He wasn't sure whether he had caught that cleanly and the third umpire came into the pictures. Luckily for Root, replays showed that the ball had touched the ground and he survived.
