A slow left-arm orthodox spinner, Charlie Parker, served Gloucestershire with distinction for over three decades. Recommended by W.G.Grace, Parker went from strength to strength, finishing his first-class career with 3278 wickets to go with 7951 runs.
On slow, low pitches, Parker was often unplayable, foxing the opposition with turn and bounce. Despite his consistent displays in county cricket, Parker played just a solitary Test for England in July 1921. Outside of cricket, Parker was a spirited golfer. After his playing career, he turned to umpiring and then coaching.
