PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That is all from our coverage today. Thank you for joining us as India moves one step closer to the semi-final, stay tuned for more exciting action. Goodbye!
Ayush Mhatre: Yeah, really happy that the boys are doing really well and we'll try to carry this momentum forward. We are confident enough that he will make runs because he has done it in the past. So, we are confident enough, we are backing him and he batted really well in the nets also. So, yeah, he will run score runs. The boys are waiting for the chance and they are just coming and chipping in and just doing well for the team, well for the country. So, I'm very happy that whoever is playing is doing well. Terrific innings because it shows patience also that it was really hot inside. So, he and Kundu batted really well and just posted a really good target for us. The bowlers were just batting really well and just they were set to our bowlers. I just tried myself and just got the wickets. We are really excited to play against them and we'll just play our game and not worry about our opponents. Just play our game and back ourselves.
Simbarashe Mudzengerere: I'd like to bowl first, stay with the option. I think it was just a matter of a little bit of execution. If we would have executed earlier, we would have taken more wickets and restricted them. I think the bowlers were bowling a little bit fuller, which was needed at the time. And also, they weren't reading conditions very well, knowing how the wicket was playing earlier and also the boundary. I was just telling him, he is a big hitter, so I was just telling him to go for it. If it comes in his zone, just try to rotate strike, give him a bit more of the strike. I think playing fearless cricket, anything in the zone, go for it. Don't hold back to any bad balls.
Vihaan Malhotra (Player of the match): It's a great feeling to contribute for the team with the bat, and I had a great day. Actually, we had so many overs to go, so we both planned that we'll just take the game long and the occasional boundary in between, so yes, that was the plan. Yes, it was hot today. We've been having cloudy weather with winds. Pacers have been helping from the wicket, but today it was a little hot and the pitch was nicer, so it was nice to be playing this game. Actually, he was playing his normal game. He was finding his boundaries where he is strong at, and we were just having a good chat in the middle and our communication was good. That's why our partnership was so helpful. He's such a key player, contributed to the ball in one game, won the player of the match there, contributed to the bat in this particular game.
17:00 Local Time, 15:00 GMT, 20:30 IST: India secures a massive 204-run victory after bowling Zimbabwe out for just 148 runs in their pursuit of a daunting 353-run target. The chase never really gained momentum as the Indian bowlers applied relentless pressure from the start, eventually wrapping up the innings in the 37th over. While Leeroy Chiwaula, Kian Blignaut, and Tatenda Chimugoro showed some grit and resilience in the middle, they simply had no answer for India's disciplined attack. Udhav Mohan and Ayush Mhatre were the standout performers with the ball, picking up three wickets each to dismantle the Zimbabwe lineup. This clinical bowling performance perfectly complemented India’s earlier dominance with the bat, where Vihaan Malhotra’s unbeaten century and Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive start set the tone for a commanding team performance that keeps India’s tournament momentum high.
