17:03 Local Time, 11:33 GMT, 17:03 IST: J & K have dominated the opening day of the 2025-26 Ranji final and it's a day to remember for Shubham Pundir. The left-hander batted with great assurance on an admittedly easy paced surface and raised a fine century. After losing Qamran Iqbal cheaply, the pair of Yawer Hassan and Pundir put their heads down and stitched a fine 139-run stand for the second wicket. The former had a lean season with the bat, but he couldn't have picked a better moment to return to form. He was eventually dismissed for 88 and then skipper Paras Dogra retired hurt after receiving a barrage of blows. That brought in Abdul Samad, J & K's highest run-scorer of the season, and with him the runs started to come as well. To their credit, Karnataka kept pegging away, but found no luck. The pacers were impressive and often beat the outside edge. Prasidh in particualr bowled his heart out, but on a pitch that offered little help, Shreyas Gopal and Shikhar Shetty struggled to contain the run-flow. As things stand, Karnataka needs better application and some luck to restrict the opponents to less than 450. We'll be back tomortow for Day 2 of the final. For now, cheers and bye..
