PLAYER OF THE MATCH
PLAYER OF THE SERIES
That's it from this Ireland tour of Bangladesh. Both the Tests and the T20Is were won by Bangladesh. Next up is the Bangladesh Premier League for them ahead of the T20 World Cup next year. Ireland meanwhile have a series in the UAE as preparation for the T20 World Cup. On that note we sign off from here. Take care and be well. Keep coming back for all the cricketing action here. For now it's bye bye.
The trophy is presented to Litton Das who then goes over to his team and gives the trophy to Mahidul Islam Ankon, then together they pose for the cameras. The entire team is all smiles.
Litton Das | Bangladesh captain: All the bowlers did really good, especially in the middle of it. Although the first part, we didn't get any wicket and they scored lots of runs. The way Rishad and Sheikh Mahedi came back, it was amazing. They are our main bowlers and they take the responsibility and did a great job. When I saw the wicket, it was a little bit slow side. So, I tell all the batsmen to play your normal game, attacking in the powerplay. Because if you took 30-40 runs in the powerplay, it will be easier to bat in the later part. (on the upcoming BPL) So, whoever plays, whatever they play, if they play, they must give their 100%. It will be helping the Bangladesh team as well. So, I want all the players, whenever they play BPL, they will perform and for the national team, they will do the same thing. (Then has a message for the crowd in Bengali, thanking them and asking them to keep supporting the team and the players).
Mahedi Hasan | Player of the Series: I'm trying my best. And truly, it's been the last two matches, first of all, I'm not good. But after that, the job is very well done. Because, you know, T20 wickets, middle over is important. That's the model. I'm trying my best. And hopefully, Inshallah, next time will be better. Yeah, definitely. Because I'm not playing first match. We're playing second match. And there is a lot of dew here. And today, no dew. So I'm using my variation. And I try to be lively. It's difficult for me because I'm finger-spinner. But I'm trying my level best. That's why I'm a success.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim | Player of the Match: We won the series. I took five catches. That was very interesting. Me and my teammates are enjoying that one. When we finished the first innings, they were all talking about this. So, I feel very happy for them. I was trying in the middle. Just bat according to the ball. And when me and Saif get a good start and then Emon comes in, we talk and just bat till the end. And we finish the match. (on his celebrations) That's all dedicated to our manager, Nafis Iqbal bhai. Because last night, he called me for the tickets. And I told him, this is a gift for you. Then he told me that when I play the next match, if I get 50 runs, then I just took the bat and show him. And that's for him.
Paul Stirling | Ireland captain: I think we just ran out of steam today, to be honest. Last game of the tour. And it sort of felt like that out there. We just weren't quite at our best. I think that key point between over 6 and maybe 12, we really didn't get any runs on the board there. And that probably cost us in the end. But, you know, we gave it our best shot over the last week or two. And we're happy with some areas of our game. And we've obviously got plenty to work on as well. (on the bowling effort) I think so. I think so. It's going to be difficult to defend that low total any time. But I think if we maybe had managed to get the 140, 150 and then got a couple of wickets early, I think that's why we were going to win that game. We just didn't have enough. I think if we were chasing 120 and were able to take that game away from the opposition in the powerplay, that's pretty much what happened in the end. (preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup) We should be going in pretty much by then. And, you know, hopefully at our best. We did. We enjoyed our stay here.
16:45 Local Time, 10:45 GMT, 16:15 IST: Commanding win for Bangladesh. They win the series too. 117 was not going to test this Bangladesh side and Ireland didn't get the early wickets they wanted to put pressure on the hosts. From there it was a cruise even as Bangladesh lost Saif and Litton in quick succession. Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan finished it off with an unbeaten stand of 73. Both batters were harsh on the loose deliveries and Ireland just didn't have the runs on the board to put pressure. Easy way to end the series as Bangladesh chase this down with 6.2 overs to spare. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...
