Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, 6th Match

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's back to back wins for Sri Lanka. Are they peaking at the right time? They were whitewashed in the ODIs, lost the first two games in the tri-series but have turned it around. Can they go onto win the final? Pakistan's unbeaten run comes to an end. They were on a high - having won their last 5 games in this format, but have lost one right before the final. Is this loss going to break the momentum or is it just a blip? All in all it makes the final an interesting contest. Join us on Saturday for that game. Until then, goodbye and stay safe..
Dasun Shanaka: Absolutely. As I said earlier, we are a much better side than what we showed before these last two couple of weeks. I’m very proud of the boys - the energy, the attitude, and the contributions from everyone was fantastic today. It started with the batting. Kamil played beautifully, showing his potential. He was unlucky in the previous game, but after talking to the coaches and senior players, he came out with clarity today. Others like Janith Liyanage, Mendis, and the middle order chipped in as well. In bowling, Chameera was outstanding - world-class performance. Wanindu also supported brilliantly. It was a true all-round effort. Definitely. We’re excited and ready (for the final).
Salman Agha: Yes, coming back from 40/4, chasing 180+ isn’t easy. We got ourselves into winning positions multiple times but just couldn’t finish. That’s disappointing. It was gettable. The pitch was good. But we didn’t start well with both bat and ball. We lost too many wickets in the powerplay, and we also conceded 50-plus in their powerplay. In T20 cricket, if you don’t start well in either department, you’re always chasing the game. It was nice to spend time at the crease, but I’d have preferred to take the team over the line. That’s what matters.
Dushmantha Chameera | Player of the Match: I’m very happy. My plan in the powerplay was simple: bowl straight, hit the wicket, and mix up the pace. Execution was key, and I managed to do that well. After the dew arrived, the pitch got better for batting, so my plan was clear - back my yorkers. I tried to stick to my strengths, hit the yorker lengths consistently and thankfully the execution was spot on.
21:41 Local Time, 16:41 GMT, 22:11 IST: Ufff! Who even writes these scripts? Pakistan looked buried early in their chase after Chameera ripped through the top order, striking thrice in his first two overs. Reeling in the powerplay, Pakistan found stability through captain Salman Agha, who dug in and partnered with Usman Khan for a crucial 50-run stand. Agha initially played the anchor’s role, but once Usman fell, he shifted gears and began finding the boundary with authority. His counterattack transformed the contest, reducing the equation to 22 off the final 12 deliveries. With Pakistan needing just 10 runs off the last over, the momentum and match were firmly in their grasp. But Chameera returned for one last act and delivered. Mixing yorkers with pinpoint accuracy, he shut down the scoring, kept Agha off strike and dragged Sri Lanka over the line. The result not only secured Sri Lanka’s place in the final but also ended Zimbabwe’s campaign. Presentations coming up..

Chameera to Mohammad Wasim, no run, Sri Lanka win by 6 runs. They are delighted. Chameera has done it. He has delivered when his team needed him the most. No surprise that his team mates are mobbing him. Coming to the ball: Nails the yorker and Wasim can't do much, he jams it out into the leg-side and the pair don't bother to run. Also, Zimbabwe have been knocked out and it will be the final will be a replay of this game..
Mohammad Wasim Jr, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Chameera to Faheem Ashraf, out Caught by Shanaka!! Taken in the deep! Shanaka, once again under pressure, holds on calmly. Full and angled in, Faheem could not quite get under the length and whips it wide of long-on. Shanaka runs to his left and takes it over his head close to the rope. That's a well-judged catch by the Sri Lanka skipper. What it has done is, it has kept Agha at the other for the final delivery. 7 from 1.. Six needed for a Super Over. Faheem Ashraf c Shanaka b Chameera 7(6) [4s-1]
Chameera to Faheem Ashraf, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Chameera to Faheem Ashraf, no run, that's a poor call. It has cost Pakistan a single. Also, kept Agha at the other end. Hesson is not happy in the dugout. Yorker length, Faheem brings his bat down and jams it onto the pad. Big inside edge and umpire Ahsan Raza did not spot it. He raised the finger but had to overturn his decision. 7 from 2.. Will that missed single haunt Pakistan?
Pakistan review! Faheem is given out LBW. He challenges the decision while on the run. The appeal was confident from Chameera and umpire Ahsan Raza obliged. There's a big inside edge. No need of the UltraEdge as well. Not Out

Chameera to Faheem Ashraf, 2 runs, poor from Liyanage. Full and around yorker length, Faheem drives it to long-on and Liyanage charges in, tries a one-handed pick up and fumbles. Luckily Malinga was coming around to back him up and it costs them just an extra run
Another chat between Chameera and Shanaka. He's coming round the wicket to Faheem.. Third man and fine leg inside the ring

Chameera to Salman Agha, 1 run, in the air and safe. Full and at the stumps, not much space on offer for Agha to free his hands, mistimes the loft to long-on and the ball bounces in front of Malinga, he keeps it to a single. 9 from 4..

Chameera to Salman Agha, no run, leg-cutter, lands and grips the surface, Agha stays deep in the crease and looks to swing it through the line, the ball straightens to beat the outside edge, bounces in front of Mendis. 10 from 5..
10 from the last over. Chameera to bowl. Can he defend this and take Sri Lanka to the final? Agha is on strike..

Eshan Malinga to Faheem Ashraf, FOUR, desperate effort in the deep but the boundary can't be prevented. Slower ball outside off, Faheem throws his bat and slices it over extra cover. The sweeper gets around and dives but the ball rolls back onto the cushions
Now Sri Lanka's physio comes out with some magic spray for Malinga. He was hit on the left hand when attempting the catch.

Eshan Malinga to Salman Agha, 1 run, full and outside off, Agha reaches and mistimes the drive towards point
