Three successive wins for Perth Scorchers and they jump up to the second spot. For Adelaide, this loss will hurt as their batting let them down big time. That's it from this encounter. Tune in tomorrow for Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat. See you there...
Joel Paris | Player of the Match: Going into the break, we were probably 20 or 30 under what we would have liked. AT (Turner) said at the break, just pressure on early, try and put some scars in. The boys did a hell of an effort to bowl them out and restrict them. (On his cameo with the bat) Any time you can go in, carrying momentum, it obviously helps. It took me long enough to get a couple out of the middle. Just trying to contribute whenever I can. We've got three wins on the board now in a row, so carry the momentum as long as we can. Historically, we haven't bowled a lot of spin in here. Obviously Ags (Agar) has done a great job for a number of years, and Coops (Connolly) the last few games, he's got that first one. One of the great things about AT is he goes on the fly, he does what he feels. Tonight obviously spin had an effect. As to why, I'm not sure. I couldn't get one out of the middle for the first 10 or 15 balls. But it had an effect and we've had to change our bowling line-up from what it has over the last three or four years and hopefully rely on everyone to contribute. And tonight was obviously a super win. Voges speaks about having a full squad and being ready. Obviously, with Finny (Finn Allen) and Laurie (Evans) going down, created a couple of opportunities for the young guys. So, it's great to see. We want to try and expose those guys as best we can. Everyone contributed really well tonight. We grabbed the momentum for as long as we could and paid off. It feels better (to be back playing for the Scorchers). It's been five years, six years since my family's had Christmas at home. Two little girls have got lots of cousins that they love very much. And to spend December, January with these boys, to spend a lot of time with them throughout the rest of the year. But this is the best part of the year. And to be able to come home and put on the orange and play with your best mates, there's nothing better than that.
21:21 Local Time, 13:21 GMT, 18:51 IST: Perth Scorchers defend a modest total in front of their home crowd. With the bat, they got off to a solid start with the openers setting the tone but they lost their way against spin (Pope and Shamsi) to finish on 153. At the halfway mark, the visitors would have been the happier side. In reply, despite losing Lynn early, Adelaide Strikers got off to a pretty good start as they scored 37 runs off the powerplay. Turner bowled the 6th over and that turned out to be a pivotal moment in the game. He picked two wickets (Short and Sangha) within a span of three deliveries, Agar nipped out Mackenzie Harvey in the very next over and the Strikers failed to get any sort of momentum post that. While the spinners accounted for the first four wickets, the pacers - especially Joel Paris - bowled beautifully in the second half of the innings to bowl out their opposition for 120.
