So, that's it from our side from the opening game of today's double-header. The Brave are going along nicely as they have won two games in a row. Contrasting start from the Phoenix who have lost both their opening games and they will need to correct things quickly in this fast-paced format. Don't go anywhere as there's another high-octane clash coming our way in just over an hour's time - Trent Rockets vs Northern Superchargers. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Michael Bracewell | Match Hero: Bit more of a complete performance today. Managed to get a win the other day but today we played some really great cricket, nice to get another win. Nice to see some spin on this wicket. (On The Hundred) It’s fantastic, the crowds here are amazing, we’ve got some great home crowd support, great to have all the fans out here. Long history of cricket here in England, great to be here. It’s (weather) not what I was expecting, beautiful day here today, really happy with the result.
16:56 Local Time, 15:56 GMT, 21:26 IST: It has been a walk in the park for the Brave. Vince won an important toss, considering that the chasing side had won five out of the six games before today and put the Phoenix into bat. Duckett got off to a start but he couldn't convert it into anything substantial. Apart from the southpaw, it was only Clarke who was able to flow freely as he struck a 27-ball 36. Apart from that, it was a sorry looking scorecard. Bracewell was the pick of the bowlers for the Brave as he took a 3-fer while Archer took a couple of wickets. 106 was always going to be well below par and that proved to be the case. Vince and du Plooy hardly broke a sweat during the run-chase and put their side into a winning position with their opening stand of 75 runs. Vince fell against the run of play but he had done his job. But du Plooy kept the scoreboard ticking and alongwith Roy, the duo took their side over the line with 9 wickets in the kitty and 19 balls to spare.
Southee to Leus du Plooy, FOUR, Leus du Plooy finishes it off in style! He skips down the track and swipes the slower back of a length delivery through mid-wicket for a rocketing boundary. A clinical performance from the Southern Brave side
Milne to Leus du Plooy, 1 run, in the air... but safe! Slower short ball around off, Leus du Plooy gets a top-edge on the pull and it falls down safely in the vacant mid-wicket region. Leus du Plooy registers his highest score in the Hundred competition
Milne to Leus du Plooy, no run, short of length ball outside off, Leus du Plooy tries to punch it square of the wicket but gets it off the bottom half down the track
Milne to Roy, 1 run, full ball down leg, whipped to fine leg
Milne to Roy, FOUR, nicely done! Slower one around off, Roy chips down the track and hacks it over mid-wicket to pick up another boundary. The Brave are just one hit away now
Milne to Roy, no run, length ball jagging back sharply towards leg-stump, Roy looks to work it across but is struck on the thigh pad
Jacob Bethell to Roy, 2 runs, Roy switches his stance and reverse sweeps this one to the left of deep backward point. Picks up a couple of runs for doing so
Jacob Bethell to Roy, no run, on a back of a length on off, punched straight to extra cover
Jacob Bethell to Roy, FOUR, pristine! On the shorter side around off, Roy rocks back and cuts it through extra cover. The call is for two but the timing is so good that the fielder in the deep is easily beaten to his right
Jacob Bethell to Leus du Plooy, 1 run, on the shorter side around off, Leus du Plooy backs away and cuts it uppishly. Livingstone at short cover dives to his left and only gets his fingertips to it. Hard to call that a dropped chance
Jacob Bethell to Leus du Plooy, 2 runs, Leus du Plooy uses his feet and Bethell bowls it down leg. He manages to work it through backward square leg and rushes back for the second run
Jacob Bethell, Left arm orthodox, comes into the attack
Southee to Roy, FOUR, that's beautifully played! Length ball outside off, Roy stands tall and crunches it on the up through wide mid-off. Held his pose for the cameras after playing that
Southee to Leus du Plooy, 1 run, a length ball outside off, Leus du Plooy slaps it to deep backward point
Southee to Leus du Plooy, FOUR, what a shot! Slower delivery around off, Leus du Plooy uses his feet, gets to the pitch of the ball and hammers it over extra cover. It just bounced in front of the ropes before going over
Southee to Leus du Plooy, no run, skiddy back of a length ball outside off from round the wicket, Leus du Plooy tries to punch it through covers but misses
Southee to Roy, 1 run, pitched up on off, Roy hits it on the up to long-on
