Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for Day 4 of the South Africa need 122 more runs to level the three-match series. India need eight wickets to register a historic series win. There's quite a resemblance to the 2018 Test at the Wanderers. South Africa were chasing 241 then and were 124/1 before losing the plot against Mohammed Shami's fine bowling, and were bowled out for 177. Will India replicate that? Or will Elgar and Co. help their side through? Recap: Dean Elgar's 46 not out and his important 40-plus stands with Aiden Markram and Keegan Petersen helped South Africa start the chase well after their were set a target of 240. India had mainly Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to thank for being able to finish with a total of 266 in their second innings, with the experienced pair putting on a 111-run partnership in quick time. Kagiso Rabada bagged quick wickets to leave India in trouble but Shardul Thakur's cameo and Hanuma Vihari's unbeaten 40 helped them finish their innings on a good note. Markram then got off to a positive start but was trapped by an incoming delivery from Thakur, while Ashwin became the first Indian spinner since Anil Kumble to pick up a wicket at the Wanderers when he had Petersen out LBW. Elgar and Rassie van der Dussen have since put on a 25-run stand off 76 deliveries, with the former even taking blows to his body. But the gutsy skipper has remained unbeaten despite all that and his team will be hoping for him to continue in the same vein and deny an Indian comeback. Full report. Meanwhile, Pujara is of the opinion that things will get difficult for South Africa as he expects the pitch to deteriorate on Day 4. "Always important to get some runs as a batsman, especially on challenging pitches where you can't score big runs. It's been challenging and we have runs on the board, so it is very balanced. Although we didn't take too many wickets, we are confident that the pitch will deteriorate," he said.
