What a knock that was from Prithvi Shaw! Showed his class today, setting the tone from the first over. He smacked as many as six successive fours in the first over to take DC off to a flier. There on, both Dhawan and Shaw didn't let KKR in with a chance. The opening pair went on to add 132 for the opening wicket, as good as batting KKR out of the game. There were no chances given, nor a dip in momentum as Shaw reached the fastest fifty of the season in 18 balls. Cummins returned to pick three wickets, but it was all to an easy chase in the end, with DC needing just 16.3 overs.
Superb outing for DC to climb to second spot on the table. Hope you've enjoyed the double-header Thursday! Do join us tomorrow for when Punjab Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore. Until then, goodbye!
That's the end of Shaw after a fabulous knock - 82 off 41!Deserved a ton, but it wasn't to be. However, it was the match that he took away from KKR quite early in the contest.
OUT!! Dhawan falls after an opening stand of 132.It's Pat Cummins who gets the wicket, trapping him leg before off a fuller delivery.
100 up for DC in the 11th over. KKR haven't managed a wicket yet
OUT! Stoinis gets Tripathi the next ball after being hit for a boundary. It was once again bowled wide outside off, Tripathi hits it straight to the fielder at sweeper cover. KKR lose their second.
KKR after the powerplay are on 45/1
OUT!! After a huge six, Axar gets his man. Rana steps out of the crease and is stumped. Just outside off and Rana misses it. DC have their first wicket in the fourth over.
One change for DC - bring in Lalit Yadav for Amit Mishra.
KKR are unchanged.
Prelude - DC seek quick turnaround
Just 48 hours ago, Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer fell agonisingly short in a fantastic finish against RCB. At the end of it, Rishabh was left struggling for words and Shimron Hetmyer was distraught, but it must be said that this narrow defeat has come in the midst of a fine start to the season for the 2020 finalists. They've coped well with the absence of Shreyas Iyer and are now dealing with the absence of R Ashwin. A win tonight will ease the pains of the one-run defeat as their already superior NRR will take them to second spot ahead of RCB inspite of going level on points.
For KKR, life has come fast in IPL 2021. They put a lid on their four-game losing streak against PBKS and are now ahead among the chasing pack in these early stage of a playoffs race. A win tonight will take them to six points and keep them closer to the fourth spot than any of the other lower-half teams.
