ABANDONED!
ABANDONED!
Just as we suspected, the day has been washed off in Nottingham, and match drawn.
Relentless rain had forced an early lunch, early tea, But even though a drier evening was expected/predicted, enough water had been soaked in by the venue and the possibility of play looked increasingly unlikely. The umpires finally pulled the plug at 3:50pm local time. That's quite an anti-climatic finish. But we'll be back for the second game shortly. Until then, ciao!
Oh no! No, no!
Summary
It was Root's attacking hundred that gave England a fighting chance. But Bumrah landed the counterpunch to blow away their tail with the second new ball, registering his sixth Test fifer, to keep India's target to 209. They have fluffed up 200-odd chases in the past, but made a fine start yesterday courtesy some freebies from England. But there was an absolute beauty too, from local boy Stuart Broad, to get rid of KL Rahul. The equation stands at - India need 157 more to win, England need nine wickets and some assistance from the clouds overhear (no rain though, please!)
Welcome back!
It's not an ideal news to begin the day with morning showers set to push back the start time. Nevertheless, we'll get you all the updates right here, so stay tuned!
