Toss - Pakistan opt to bowl
Smart call. It's a high scoring ground so chasing should be the preferred option. Malik gets it right. Pakistan bring back Shaheen Afridi into the side and South Africa have handed out debuts to two promising players. Janneman Malan and Lutho Sipamla will be donning the national jersey for the first time today and the will look to make an impact.
Teams:
South Africa (Playing XI): Janneman Malan, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller(c), Heinrich Klaasen(w), Andile Phehlukwayo, Chris Morris, Lutho Sipamla, Beuran Hendricks, Junior Dala, Tabraiz Shamsi
Pakistan (Playing XI): Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Hussain Talat, Shoaib Malik(c), Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Rizwan(w), Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Usman Shinwari
Build up
Not often do you see Pakistan concede 192 in a T20 game. No wonder they fell short in their attempt to chase it down in the first T20I that also ended their nine-match winning streak in the format. South Africa sit pretty with a series lead and in the absence of some regulars, the backup players would love to put the series to bed with another top performance at the Wanderers. Traditionally, this venue has seen loads of runs. Expect pretty much the same today.
Having already lost the Tests and the ODIs, Pakistan need to pull one back and remain in contention for silverware on this tour. They are the top-ranked T20I side in the world and they need to come up with a clinical show to level the series. It will be interesting to see how their bowling lineup fares against this South African side that will now not have Faf du Plessis in these final two games. That top four will certainly have their task cut out. David Miller would want to have a good outing as well as the stand-in skipper. Welcome to the live blog for this second T20I.
