A much-needed win for Mumbai Indians

In a surprising move, MS Dhoni decided to bring Imran Tahir into the attack. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya finished off the formalities and helped Mumbai Indians to an eight-wicket win. Second victory of the season for the visitors. Much needed for them. Chennai Super Kings, despite the loss, remain at the top of the points table.

Rohit assault

Rohit Sharma has taken the assault on his schoolmate Shardul Thakur and smashed him around for four boundaries in the penultimate over and brought Mumbai Indians five runs short of the target off the last ball. And with his last boundary, he also brought up his half century.

CSK in with a chance?

Lewis decides to go for the big shot immediately after the strategic time-out and miscues it off the leading edge. Shardul runs in from long off to take a regulation catch. Well, well, well... MI can't do this to themselves, again!

Powerplay

Ambati Rayudu has found his flow and finished off the powerplay with a boundary and a six off Hardik Pandya. 51 for 1 may not be the most intimidating of starts, but CSK would be happy with the returns. A well-set Rayudu can be dangerous, something which has been testified earlier as well.

Watson's struggle ends

Shane Watson was struggling to get going, failing to middle his swipes. Eventually, Krunal Pandya gets the better of him and gets him to top edge a slog sweep. Mayank Markande takes an easy catch to send the opener packing. First strike for Mumbai Indians.

Mitchell McClenaghan begins the proceedings for Mumbai Indians. And Ambati Rayudu, the former MI batsman, goes down the track and smacks him for a six straight down the ground. Positive start for CSK.

Toss

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field. Both the skipper agree that the pitch won't change much through the course of the game.
