THAT'S THAT - KKR WIN BY FOUR WICKETS
KKR have opened their account and RCB are left licking their wounds. Ahead of the clash, Kohli had said their bowling will dominate the tournament. They went in with five bowlers only and paid the price. Woakes, Chahal and Washington all had a bad day.
Narine smashed a 17-ball fifty to get the chase going. Rana and Karthik kept the chase going. Russell eased the pressure towards the end before Karthik guided the team to a win.
Not many gave KKR a chance against the power-packed RCB line-up. Same old, same old for the visitors.
RUSSELL GONE
KKR need 13 off 14 and Karthik needs to guide the team over the line now. Length ball and he wanted to smash that straight. Didn't connect well and caught by ABD at long-off. Almost a collision between AB and McCullum
KKR need 30 in the last four overs ...
TOSS - KKR opt to bowl
Virat Kohli - It's a pretty good wicket and we are looking forward to put some runs on the board. Our four overseas are ABD, McCullum, de Kock and Woakes. For the first time we have a good balance with bat and ball both. This is probably the most balanced RCB side ever.
Dinesh Karthik - We are going to bowl first. Looks a good wicket, so we will look to chase down the target. Should be a good contest. Everything's been good so far touch wood things go well. This is one aspect of captaincy I have to learn. The four overseas are Lynn, Narine, Russell and Johnson.
Prelude - KKR's batting vs RCB's bowling?
The usually top-heavy Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a conscious decision for this season of the IPL. They've invested smartly in their bowling department, and if Kohli is to be believed, they now have a bowling attack that will turn heads this season. More on that later, when action gets underway at the Eden Gardens. Will also be interesting to see which Under-19 star makes it to the final XI of the KKR line-up.
Ahead of KKR's season opener at home, our man Shirshendu Roy spoke at length with Mike Horne, who held a small motivational speaking camp with KKR.
Milestone for the analyst
The KKR data analyst - AR Srikkanth - will be on the job for his 300th game tonight. Here's our chat with him from last season.
