That's all, folks!
That's all, folks!
And as expected at the innings break, India have cruised to an easy win. Manish Pandey provided the late flourish to follow up on Shikhar Dhawan's half century and helped them to a 6-wicket win. India dominated in both the departments - batting and bowling. Bangladesh would have a lot to discuss and change as far as their planning is concerned if they have to perform any better in the rest of the tri-series.
A wicket too late
Shikhar Dhawan gets a top edge while looking to flick Taskin Ahmed. Tamim Iqbal takes an easy catch in the deep and for some reason Bangladesh players look way too happy. The way the game is placed right now, it seems well in India's pocket. The wicket has certainly come way too late for Bangladesh's liking.
Raina departs
Yet again, it is the extra pace which has got a wicket. Suresh Raina gets in an awkward position looking to fend a delivery at his hips and gives an easy catch. A fine 80-run stand comes to an end.
Continuing the dream run
Shikhar Dhawan, after a pretty good time in South Africa, has continued his good run in Nidahas Trophy. He has followed up his career-best 90 from the previous game with yet another fine half century today. Suresh Raina hasn't been as fluent as him but played a good second fiddle.
The Dhawan factor
There is something that Shikhar Dhawan has figured out about playing in these conditions better than the other Indian batsmen. He is batting with ease, scoring at a brisk pace, while most others have struggled. The southpaw is unbeaten on a 25-ball 37 as of now, with 77 runs on the board for India.
50 Up
There is something about the T20 format that gets Suresh Raina going. He slog sweeps, the most graceful of them, to notch up his 50th T20I six and also help India bring up their 50 in only 38 balls.
Unsuccessful Experiment
The decision to promote Rishabh Pant to No 3 doesn't pay off as Rubel Hossain has his stumps shattered. The innings is cut short quickly as Bangladesh bag their second wicket. Just like Bangladesh, India too lose two wickets in the powerplay.
First strike
A change in end works for Mustafizur Rahman as the left-armer gets Bangladesh their first breakthrough. After a crisp start, Rohit Sharma departs inside edging the ball on to the stumps. Bangladesh will need a few more wickets, quite a few more of these, if they have to harbour hopes of defending their total.
Quick start
Both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are off the mark with boundaries. They have taken on the Bangladesh's new-ball pair of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. And quite unlike the kind of approach the Bangladeshi batsmen had taken, the Indian openers are far more controlled and smart with their shot-making.
Chase begins
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have walked out to open the innings for India. Mustafizur Rahman to begin Bangladesh's defense. Can Bangladesh defend the 140-run target?
A total below par
Bangladesh have finished at 139 for 8, a total far from what they would have liked, especially after the quick start they got. They will be disappointed with their batting effort and will need an excellent effort with the ball to challenge India today. India were erratic with their lines - conceding 11 wides, and below-average on the field - dropping three catches. But Bangladesh's poor planning and execution with the bat helped India get away with needing a modest target.
Dicey decision
Umpire Hannibal makes a decision for caught behind and Bangladesh take a review again. There was a clear spike in the Sniko when the ball went past the bat, but also to be noticed was that the bat was hitting the ground at the same time. A little dicey decision from the third umpire but Hannibal gets one right to his credit finally.
Big blow for Bangladesh as Sabbir Rahman, their last credible batsman falls. How much can Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain help Bangladesh reach. One over remaining.
Strike 6
It doesn't seem like Bangladesh have played well to the pace of the wicket, which hasn't been the quickest. Some of the shot selections have been bizarre and the attempt to go over the top has invariably led to them mistiming more deliveries than hitting them cleanly. Mehidy Hasan also departs.
Chahal joins the party
Yuzvendra Chahal, who had made it difficult for the Bangladesh batsmen to score freely today, finally bags a wicket in the last over of his spell. The legspinner teases the Liton Das, who makes room and looks to hit him out of the boundary but ends up mistiming it to Suresh Raina. No 5 down!
Slow and steady
Sabbir Rahman and Liton Das are chugging along slowly. The move to play some unconventional strokes hasn't quite given Bangladesh the desired result so far. But this is a going to be a crucial partnership for Bangladesh. Not much batting to follow after this pair.
And another one falls
It's funny how the game pans out. Vijay Shankar's best so far was probably the first one, but he didn't reap any rewards. And probably his worst was the third - which not only proved to be the most economical one but also one that gets him a wicket. A poor shot by Mahmudullah leads to his dismissal. Bangladesh don't have much depth in their batting today. Despite some poor fielding and dropped catches, India and well and truly in a dominant position.
A tough debut
Lyndon Edward Hannibal, the onfield umpire, is having a tough time in his maiden T20I game. Yet again, his decision has been reviewed and reversed. This time, it was by India. Mushfiqur Rahim, who had pulled Vijay Shankar for a six, looks to go down the track and ends up edging one to the 'keeper. An excited Dinesh Karthik took little time to ask for a review. Shankar, who was unlucky so far, finally bags his maiden international wicket.
Prelude:
Hello and welcome to Live Blog for the second game of the Nidahas Trophy. Today's game is between India and Bangladesh, with the former smarting from their defeat against Sri Lanka. The Rohit Sharma-led team is up against Mahmudullah's outfit whose confidence is at an all-time low with just one win from their last 10 T20Is.
The last time these two teams met it was probably overconfidence that got the better of Bangladesh after they had swiped off 9 off the 11 required, off the first three balls of the final over of the 2016 World T20. Mahmudullah, who was one of the crucial wickets to fall in that fateful over, knows how even a little bit of complacency could come back to haunt them.
While we wait for the toss, here's the detailed preview for the game, and also have a look at what the Bangladesh skipper had to say on the eve of the match.
