Pakistan won by 5 wickets © AFP
Another ball on the pads and Imam-ul-Haq flicked it for another couple to complete the formalities. Ireland gave Pakistan a real scare before going down by five wickets. The Test debutants put up a spirited display of cricket. But amidst all the romance of Ireland's performance, it is easy to forget the effort of two other Pakistani debutants - Faheem Ashraf and Imam-ul-Haq, who stood out under pressure and delivered as well. What an exciting game of cricket this was! Sad, that it has to be a one-off affair. Thanks for joining in. It was a pleasure to update you'll on the game across the four days of play. Adios!
And even as the target nears for Pakistan, Ireland aren't letting them have it any easy. First, it was a confusion over a single which cost Babar Azam his wicket and now it is Sarfraz Ahmed who is adjudged LBW. Two wickets late in Pakistan's chase, five wickets down with 8 runs to go. Is there still something left in the game? Would be very very interesting if there is.
Babar Azam, whose persistence in the Test side was questioned due to repeated failures, has repaid the faith of the selectors with a fighting half-century. Wasn't the most fluent of innings but very effective.
Imam-ul-Haq, who had a lot of questions raised over his selection, has played a superb knock today, scoring a half-century under pressure on his Test debut. Coming into the Test, there were allegations of nepotism against him, with his uncle Inzamam-ul-Haq - the chief selector - choosing him over other deserving candidates. Maybe, he has put some of it to rest.
