Ton for Dhawan, Victory for India
Ton for Dhawan, Victory for India
It's India's eighth successive bilateral ODI series win for India. Dhawan gets to his hundred as well and stays unbeaten as India clinch an emphatic eight-wicket victory. Sri Lanka were never in the game with the ball, and never really in it after the dismissal of Tharanga in the first innings.
WICKET: Tharanga falls for 95
12 fours and three sixes in that 82-ball knock. But that has come to an end thanks to a smart stumping. Tharanga was just centimeters over the line but Dhoni is quick to whip the bails off. Wicket for Kuldeep Yadav against the run of play.
WICKET: Chahal breaks 121-run stand
One shot too many. Samarawickrama chips a lofted shot and it goes to the man at deep cover.
DROPPED
Kuldeep could have had a wicket there but Karthik puts down a chance. Samarawickrama was on 29 then.
No respite for India
There have been some close shaves for Sri Lanka but Samarawickrama and Tharanga don't look in a mood to settle down. Plenty of shots played, and they're pulling them off quite well. Partnership crosses 100 in just 92 balls!
Fifty for Tharanga, off just 36 balls!
Tharanga looking ominous
Five fours in an over from Pandya!
Plenty of edges in it but Sri Lanka will take it. They are racing along and so is Tharanga.
Tharanga takes on Bhuvneshwar
They are looking to play lofted shots. Tharanga targets the onside for a couple of lofted boundaries against Bhuvneshwar as Sri Lanka hit back. He looks in good touch already.
WICKET: Bumrah strikes
It wasn't easy going for the openers. The ball seems to be stopping on the batsman a trifle. Gunathilaka tries to take on Bumrah but chips a length ball straight to mid on. Sri Lanka 15/1 in the fourth over.
TOSS: India opt to bowl
Kuldeep Yadav has come in for Washington Sundar for India. Thirimanne is out for Sri Lanka, Samarawicrama is in.
Rohit reckons there will be dew later in the day. That's why they have decided to chase. Interesting decision on a track that has been described as a flat one.
Prelude
So, Vizag will get to see the decider. A series that has swung both ways quite dramatically. Sri Lanka dominated the first, India the second. Can this one see a middle ground? Now, that would be a fantastic decider.
The all-important toss and team coming up shortly. Until then you can read more about what's happening in the preview, here.
