After 59 matches in the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), it's time for the one that matters the most - the grand final in which Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad will tussle for the crown.
After an inconsistent showing during the first half of the tournament, the Virat Kohli-inspired Royal Challengers pulled up their socks, registering four wins in as many games to finish second in the points table, which gave them two opportunities to book a spot in the final. The two-time IPL runners-up grabbed the first available chance, registering a nervy win against Gujarat Lions to enter the final for the third time.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, looked favourites to finish as one of the two-two teams, only to stumble a bit in the business end of the tournament and had to settle for the third spot. However, they managed to recover from that, winning the Eliminator and the second Qualifier to seal a date with Royal Challengers at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday (May 29).
With the top three run-getters (Virat Kohli, David Warner and AB de Villiers) and the top three wicket-takers (Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shane Watson) of IPL 2016 belonging to the teams that are contesting in the final, there will be no shortage of entertainment for the Bengaluru fans, who will be eager to watch their home team end their IPL final jinx.
