South Africa will aim to continue their winning run in the ongoing five-match One-Day International series against Australia at the historic Kingsmead stadium in Durban. If the hosts overcome Australia once again, they will win their first bilateral rubber against the visitors in seven years in the 50-over format.
South Africa put up commanding performances in Centurion and Johannesburg, respectively. Quinton de Kock explored every nook and cranny of the ground to compose the second highest individual score (178) by a South African in ODIs in Centurion, while Faf du Plessis aggregated a well-measured hundred in the second game at the Wanderers. Rilee Rossouw, too, has been in prime form.
Rossouw notching up a couple of fifties has also led to a selection conundrum for the home side. The left-handed batsman replaced Hashim Amla for the first game after the 33-year-old veteran fell sick. As the southpaw opener netted in a fifty in Centurion, the South African think-tank after much deliberation decided to not alter the winning combination.
However, Amla is a quality batsman and by all accounts is set to return for the third game, with Rossouw likely being pushed down the order. At the other end of the spectrum, the Australian team has been let down by the bowlers. Mennie, Tremain and Worrall are inexperienced and that hasn't helped their cause. It has put extra pressure on the diligent workhorse - John Hastings. Even the batsmen have been guilty of throwing away good starts.
The weather forecast looks fine for the day. Hopefully, it turns out to be a cracker of a contest, with the fans getting their money's worth.
