It's Day 3 of the Leeds Test, possibly the last day of this Test, going by the way the visitors batted yesterday. Truth be told, they just came up against an unbelievably bowling pair at the peak of its prowess. Broad and Anderson don't really need cloud cover to trouble visiting batsmen but when given an opportunity to bowl in such conditions, they weren't going to say no. The duo took 9 wickets amongst themselves to bowl Sri Lanka out for 91. Alastair Cook has enforced the follow on. Sri Lanka trail by over 200 runs and if the conditions are anything like they were last evening, they are in for another severe examination.

Here's hoping for an improved showing from Sri Lanka. Welcome to Day 3.

A persistent drizzle delays the start of play in Leeds. Conditions are clearing up now and we should have play in just over 10 minutes. New ball, overcast morning - could it get any better for Broad and Anderson?

Chilly morning, four slips and a gully and Anderson with the new ball. Dimuth Karunaratne did not much wrong there. Perhaps, as Michael Atherton reckoned on air, he could left it on the bounce. But this ball snakes out from leg stump to kiss the outside on its way to the keeper. Early strike for England. In walks Kusal Mendis. How they would've loved Kumar Sangakkara to come in at No. 3. Sigh....

Kaushal Silva and Kusal Mendis put on a dogged stand but the wicket was always round the corner, especially with Cook entrusting Anderson with a long first spell. Another classical outswinger that Silva just couldn't resist having a poke. Bairstow with the seventh dismissal this match. That wicket notwithstanding, England haven't been great with the ball this morning. Broad and Finn just haven't hit their lengths right. Broad was too short and Finn overcompensated by bowling too full. With Anderson tiring, one of these two seamers will need to assume more responsibility.

New man in is Chandimal.

Another drop... Kusal Mendis must have had a shot of Felix Felices. It's banned in professional sporting contests, my colleague chimes. This is the second legitimate drop. Bairstow dropped one earlier, this time it is the debutant Vince. There have been plays and misses, leading edges falling in no man's land but the important thing is that he is unbeaten on 47 as another spell of shower stops play.

The rain has stopped but it will take some time before the ground is ready. All we can hope for is that the groundstaff get it ready as soon as possible

The game is unraveling quickly for Sri Lanka here. Angelo Mathews, the hero of his team's historic win in 2014, is the latest to go. Stuart Broad, who struggled with his lines in the morning session, hits that perfect length, the Jimmy Anderson length if you will, eliciting a tentative poke from Mathews. Outside edge... taken!

Kusal Mendis, the lone bright spot in an otherwise forgettable batting effort this innings, completes his maiden Test match half century before becoming Anderson's eighth victim of the match - wants to leave the off-stump teaser at the last minute but the extra bounce does him in and the ball is dragged back on to the stumps.

The game resumed after a long, long time but it took England only four balls to strike and it's that man, who the subcontinental teams don't seem to rate - Moeen Ali. For some strange reason! Standard off-break, nothing out of the blue but as Chandimal finds out, is too close to cut. Too late, he plays on. Batsmen keep underestimating Moeen and he keeps spinning them over.

Steven Finn accounts for Herath and Chameera either side of Tea and England are now only two wickets away from sealing a Test match victory. This has been an sorry batting performance for Sri Lanka. They keep poking and plodding and the ball keeps finding the fielders.

Anderson finishes with match figures of 10 for 45 as England decimate Sri Lanka by an innings an 88 runs to a take a 1-0 series lead. Just two overs were needed to wrap up the proceedings. By virtue of the win England take a 4-0 lead in the super series. 4-0? Confused? Remember, the winner of the series will be the cumulative leader of points accumulated through the course of the series. 4 points for England's win. No repeat of Leeds heroics for Sri Lanka. This has been a harsh lesson for Mathews & Co. The batsmen have a tough task to turn it around from here.
