After bundling out South Africa for 313 in the first innings, England began in shaky fashion losing the two openers cheaply. They went on to lose two more and were struggling at 91 for 4 before Ben Stokes and Joe Root counter-attacked to put the Proteas on the backfoot. Stokes was dismissed after making a fine 50 but Root went on to make a ton. How much more can England add today?

This is exactly what the South Africans wanted! The centurion is gone 14 balls into the day. Root is a bit unlucky there as the ball kisses the inside edge of the bat and carries to the keeper. He reviews it but snicko spots an edge! He is a goner. But what a fine knock this has been from the 25-year-old. Moeen Ali joins Bairstow in the middle.

South Africa have endured a torrid time ever since the start of the 1st Test in India. Their poor form was coupled with some injury concerns and a change in captaincy midway through the current series. Stuart Broad was the star of the show picking up the first 5 wickets in the 2nd innings after both sides made pretty much the same total in the 1st. Chasing 74, they won with 7 wickets to spare. The result also sends India to the top of the ICC Test rankings.
