South Africa vs New Zealand, 2nd T20I - Live Cricket Score, Commentary

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, New Zealand batting presented a contrasting picture in comparison with the first T20I. The kept the scoring rate above 8 as various players played some good cameos.

David Miller might have dropped a catch earlier but he made up for it with two splendid ones thereafter. He took another classic in the deep mid-wicket area as Ronchi played a flat pull. The ball was travelling at the speed of knots and Killer Miller made sure he hung onto it.

And Kagiso Rabada was on a hat-trick once again. He removed Munro first, thanks to brilliantly held catch by AB de Villiers at mid-wicket, who backwards to his right and took one over his left shoulder. On the very next ball, Neesham was bowled. Neesham played a wonderful 19-ball 28 cameo but missed a scoop and his middle stump was castled.

He finished with figures of 4-0-30-3.

Mitchell McClenaghan got rid of Morne van Wyk cheaply, dismissing him for three in the third over. The batsman was early into the shot and ended up gloving it to the keeper while attempting a pull. It was a tight over from McClenaghan, who conceded only three runs. Amla departed in the following over to give Milne his first wicket. It was a short delivery which could have been put away anywhere but Amla hit it straight to Colin Munro at backward point to depart for 14. Milne's over yielded seven runs, leaving South Africa at 22/2.

Nathan McCullum opened the attack and he started with a tight over, conceding only five. Hashim Amla scored the first four of the innings when he clipped an Adam Milne delivery to the backward square-leg boundary. Milne was economical otherwise, giving away only three runs apart from the boundary.

Rilee Rossouw upped the ante with some much-needed boundaries to help South Africa forward. The left-hander hit back-to-back fours off McClenaghan in the fifth over while AB de Villiers got into the act in the following over, scoring two fours in succession. New Zealand missed a golden opportunity to send back de Villiers in the same over as Tom Latham put down a tough chance at short mid-wicket when the South African captain had pulled one hard. At the end of the powerplay, South Africa were 40/2.

De Villiers muscled a slog-sweep off Nathan McCullum for his first six in the seventh over. However, in his attempt to loft one over long-on, de Villiers did not get the timing right and ended up handing a catch to Neesham to depart for 15. In the following over, Russouw managed a boundary off Ish Sodhi to take South Africa to 56/3 after eight overs.

Russouw and Farhaan Behardien managed a boundary each before the former departed in the 10th over. Russouw flicked one straight to Williamson at mid-wicket to depart on 26, leaving South Africa at 75/4 after 10 overs.

Behardien managed a four each off McCullum and Milne, but the 11th and the 12th over yielded seven and eight runs respectively as the required rate crept up to 11 an over. South Africa were 90/4 after 12 overs.

Behardien, David Wiese and Aaron Phangiso departed in successive overs to leave South Africa in a lot of trouble. McCullum picked up the wicket of Behardien, Sodhi bagged the scalp of Wiese while Neesham dismissed Phangiso to leave South Africa at 123/7 after 17 overs.

David Miller hit McClenaghan for a six in the 18th over, but he departed in the same over as he picked Munro at deep backward square-leg while trying to pull one past the fence. Kagiso Rabada and Kyle Abbott remained unbeaten, but they could not do much as New Zealand won the game by 32 runs to level the two-match series.
