Chennai Super Kings, who secured a convincing 7-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in the eliminator game, will be keen to overcome Kings XI Punjab in the second qualifier and enter the IPL final for the sixth time. Meanwhile, Punjab, who were beaten comprehensively by Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, will been eager to bounce back and make their maiden IPL final appearance.

The George Baley-led team will be taking a lot of confidence from the two victories they secured against Chennai earlier in the tournament. Riding on Glenn Maxwell's 90-plus knocks in Abu Dhabi and Cuttack in the group stage of the 2014 edition, Punjab had flattened the two-time champions. They will be keen to extend their unbeaten run against CSK this year while the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side will be looking to avenge those two losses.

Team News:

Parvinder Awana went for a lot in the game against Kolkata and Punjab might look to replace him with Sandeep Sharma. Chennai, on the other hand, are unlikely to tinker with the eleven.

Numbers:

  • Glenn Maxwell has enjoyed facing the Chennai bowlers. In the previous two innings against them, he scored 95 and 90 respectively.

  • Maxwell has hit 35 sixes in the tournament so far, and is closely followed by Dwayne Smith, who has hit 34.

Quotes:

In batting, you have to keep improving your shots. You have to execute really well. At the same time you need to back your strength: Suresh Raina, on batting in T20s.

Maxwell can expect me to come over the wicket to him in the next match Ravichandran Ashwin isn't worried about bowling to his tormentor-in-chief, Glenn Maxwell.
