It is not often that Afghanistan stays at the receiving end of a 3-0 cleansweep from an Asian side, but their fielding and lack of intent in the powerplay are two areas that coach Jonathan Trott will highlight in his assignment diary. As for Bangladesh, their stand-in skipper Jaker Ali achieved an amazing feat after losing their last 2 games in the recently-concluded Asia Cup. Only the 4th time in their history that Bangladesh have cleanswept an opposition. All smiles as they pose behind the 'winners' hoarding. And with that, we pull curtains on the T20I series. The 3-match ODI series begins on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi. Do remember to join us for that series. Until then cheers and goodbye!!

Jaker Ali | Bangladesh skipper: The boys knew how to manage after the Asia Cup which was pleasing to see. The last 3 games we have done good job in the fielding and also bowlers made the job easy for the batters. All are capable and they just need to believe that they are the best and need to have that confidence. Great feeling because we know they have good spinners and we have prepared accordingly. All credit goes to the boys, because everyone did their job perfectly. The fans support us anywhere we play and big thanks to them.

Rashid Khan | Afghanistan skipper: We played bad cricket and they played outstanding cricket in all departments. We missed so many catches, fielding was the area we were so far behind and that is why we were beaten 3-0. In T20s as a batting side, you have to go out there with a positive mind and intent and I don't think we have shown that intent. We played defensive cricket both in Asia Cup and here as well. We haven't given that opportunity for the lower order to come and express freely. The skills are there, talent is there. It is just about the mindset and reading the conditions. That is something we need to worry about more and we have only 8-9 games before the World Cup, so need to see how we can get together and make a comeback. The youngsters have done well back home and it is just about the right time and opportunity and I have full confidence in their talent.

Nasum Ahmed | Player of the Series: I have done well against New Zealand and Australia as well at home. The wicket was a bit slow and I wanted to mix my variations and use whatever advantage was on offer.

Saif Hassan | Player of the Match: Happy to contribute to the team, hopefully we can continue this form. Last 2 years I have been trying to play like this and the plan was clear that I was gonna bat at 3 and I tried batting according to the situation. All credit goes to the bowlers because this is a small ground and they have done well to restrict them.

22:03 local, 18:03 GMT, 23:33 IST: The last time Bangladesh cleanswept Afghanistan in a T20I series was back in 2023 in Bangladesh (2-0). Afghanistan had two inexperienced bowlers today and Bangladesh targetted them left, right and centre to take 88 runs off their 7 overs. Mujeeb picked up 2 successive wickets off the last 2 balls of his spell and Rashid Khan followed that over up with a maiden. Apart that from 2-over phase, Afghanistan looked totally out of sorts and never really challenged the batters. A couple of drop catches didn't help their cause either. In fairness, the game was pretty much sealed in the first half when Bangladesh restricted Afghanistan to a below par total. It was the batting that really let down Afghanistan throughout the series and for the third time in a row, they failed to post a competitive score on a ground which saw nearly 50 sixes (all 3 games combined) from both teams. Presentations imminent, stay tuned...
