Washington Freedom vs Los Angeles Knight Riders, 8th Match - Live Cricket Score, Commentary

Series: Major League Cricket 2025 Venue: Oakland Coliseum, California Date & Time: Jun 17, 06:00 PM LOCAL
WAF 208/5 (20)
LAKR 95 (16.3)
Washington Freedom won by 113 runs
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Glenn Maxwell

WAF with this win have ensured that TSK and SFU aren't breaking away from the pack. WAF have now won two on the bounce. Maxwell has been the key in their last two games. His aggressive batting and captaincy has been a catalyst in these wins. The Big Show did put up a show and how! We all had a ball as the balls kept flying to all corners of the park. LAKR just looked timid. Dropping Maxwell also didn't help them but it has been a sorry state of affairs for LAKR in the last couple of years in the MLC. They just have not been consistent enough. But they are a solid unit and will look to bounce back soon. We will be back soon with more cricketing action. Bye bye for now.

Glenn Maxwell, Player of the Match: I gave myself a chance for sure. Being the captain, you want to carry on for the team. I got to a position where I thought I could just go on. I had 155-160 in my mind. I feel like I was hitting well in India. Sometimes the results don't go your way. Just a bit of time is needed to get going. I have let him (Ricky Ponting) down in a couple of tournaments. I missed out playing for Punjab in the later stages of the IPL. Playing under Ricky, we hopefully have a chance to add to last year's trophy. We tried to back that 6 to 8 metres length. Chopping and changing the bowlers helped as well. Netravalkar did well. Adair did well in his first game. You just have to adapt. The attitude in the group has been outstanding. I feel the boys have been resilient. They have been finding ways to win.

Jason Holder: We thought we did well, dropped a crucial chance which made us pay in the end. But we still need to execute better in the backend. We needed to set it up but unfortunately we lost too many wickets in the powerplay, we never got momentum in the middle and nothing to show in the end. It (the pitch) had a bit more variable bounce but having said that if we had set-up better then we could have given a good crack at the end. Cricket is a game of momentum, we just need to win one and then the belief will start to flow. We have to look ourselves in the mirror, ask ourselves honest questions and at the same time stay positive.

21:15 Local Time, 04:15 GMT, 09:45 IST: Maxwell and bowlers have helped WAF to a 113-run win. Good enough for it to headline any publication. Maxwell tonked 13 sixes on his way to a majestic ton. And once more than 200 was needed, LAKR just capitulated with the bat. They were never in the chase. Netravalkar bowled an excellent first over which was a maiden and picked up the wicket of Hales as well. Then the rest of the bowlers chipped in and LAKR just didn't know where the next run was coming for them. Third loss on the bounce for the LAKR unit. WAF after a crushing loss against SFU have bounced back really well in the last two games. This win will fortify their NRR as well. And we don't have a doubt that Maxwell should be the Player of the Match. Yesterday we saw a lop-sided affair and today as well it was a no contest. MINY, LAKR and the Orcas remain on a duck. WAF remain third on the table.

16.3

Netravalkar to Corne Dry, out Caught by Chapman!! Heaved away and taken at long-on. Chapman ran to his right and took it over his head. Netravalkar finishes it off with a wicket. He was the man who triggered this tragedy for LAKR. Was a length delivery, Corne Dry whipped the ball away but failed to clear the man at long-on. LAKR have been shunted out for 95. Maxwell and his boys win by 113 runs. Corne Dry c Chapman b Netravalkar 13(15) [4s-2]

16.2

16.1

Netravalkar to Corne Dry, FOUR, walks across, gets inside the line of the delivery and scoops the ball fine. The man at short fine had no chance. he played the field and did well. Netravalkar has been brought back for his final over. He bowled 16 dots in his first 3 overs

Saurabh Netravalkar [3.0-1-2-1] is back into the attack

Tanveer Sangha, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Time-out. LAKR are nine down. So, that should be telling enough. They have made a mess of this chase. The burden of 200 plus has shown and LAKR have imploded. The batting conditions also haven't been easy for them.

15.6

Holland to van Schalkwyk, out Caught by Jack Edwards!! Punched straight to cover off the back foot. Tried to generate power but the lack of pace on that delivery didn't help his case. That was a short of length delivery, slower, van Schalkwyk hung back to waft it through the off-side but failed to find the gap. In the end, hit it firmly but failed to find the gap. 9th one down. The writing has been on the wall for sometime. Holland gets his first wicket. He has been good with his slower balls. van Schalkwyk c Jack Edwards b Holland 12(13) [4s-2]
