TKR head into the finals with their confidence sky high! After three losses at the fag end of the league stage, they have turned it around in the playoffs. The Knight Riders first brushed aside the Falcons with consummate ease in the Eliminator and now they have completely dominated the Kings in QF 2. The Warriors, on the other hand, are in some red-hot form as well. They were astute in QF1 against the Kings to gain a direct entry into the grand finale. It should be some electrifying encounter on Sunday night. Join us for all the excitement and thrill! Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Nic Pooran: It's really important to come together in a tournament like this. It has been a bit challenging for us in the last two seasons. But everyone has come together this time and congratulations to everyone, I'm proud of the guys. Our spinners have been brilliant, Usman has been brilliant throughout the tournament and we are happy to have him. Narine has been great as well and I'm lucky to have him. It's all about what's required on this pitch, Dre came out and hit a couple of sixes. (On facing the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final) It's a game of cricket, this is going to be one of the biggest games in the CPL history. I know the crowd will come out and support the home side. May the best team win. To all our fans, we love you guys, thank you guys, keep supporting us, just one more game to go.
David Wiese: It's a bit of a tough pill to swallow, we were outplayed in almost every part of the game tonight. The backend once again came back to haunt us. Looking at the opposition and knowing that they like to chase also, we decided to bowl. We needed to execute better. We can do all the planning and look at all the footage but if we don't execute, it's not good enough. We got off to a good start, we gave ourselves a good opportunity but we couldn't find the boundaries in the middle overs. Their spinners did well to tie us down. The support has been fantastic for us throughout the campaign. Thanks to everybody for believing in us, unfortunately we couldn't win tonight but we will come back strongly next season.
Nicholas Pooran | Player of the Match: Really happy that I could continue my form from the other game. I was able to capitalise on the powerplay. I left a couple of runs out there and I'm a bit disappointed with myself. (On Alex Hales) He has been really good for us, he is not getting off to flying starts but he is not losing his wicket. He is stitching that partnership and is bringing his experience into play which is great to see. If you can play a game and reach the final, it's great. At the moment, we need to embrace the opportunity. The momentum is on our side and we are happy to convert.
23:29 Local Time, 03:29 GMT, 08:59 IST: TKR march into the grand finale courtesy a lopsided contest! Fifties from Pooran and Hales and breezy cameos from Pollard and Russell helped the Knight Riders to put a massive score on the board. 195 was always going to be a difficult task for the Kings on a two-paced surface and with the added pressure of a knockout game. The TKR bowlers were on the money from the word-go and varied their pace and lines and lengths to a nicety to keep the run-flow in check. Charles struggled for rhythm and played a lot of dot balls. Seifert kept finding the boundaries regularly but couldn't rotate the strike much. The TKR spinners took control of the game and the Kings' batters succumbed under pressure. Seifert struck a fifty but he couldn't carry on. David sparkled in his little cameo but fell against the run of play and that was perhaps the game for the Knight Riders. The asking rate went out of grasp and the lower order was left with too much to do. Narine finished his spell with a double wicket-maiden while Tariq took a 4-wicket haul to close out the game. The Kings were outplayed in all aspects of the game tonight.
