Having lost half their side and still trailing by 378 runs, Ireland were left reeling at close of play on the second day of the second Test in Dhaka. Centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das saw Bangladesh amass 476 by Tea before their bowlers rattled through Ireland's top order in the final session.

The first over of the day saw Matthew Humphreys bowl a maiden to Mushfiqur Rahim, who resumed on 99*. Rahim, though, reached the three-figure mark in the next over and became just the 11th batter to score a century in his 100th Test. His stay, however, didn't last too long after as he was out edging to Andrew Balbirnie at second slip in the 99th over.

While Rahim's wicket ended a 108-run stand, it also marked the beginning of another, more aggressive century stand between Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The duo commanded a steady control over proceedings, taking Bangladesh to 387/5 at Lunch while Litton brought up his ton with a boundary in the 116th over.

The batters sustained their assault in the second session with both managing to overturn LBW decisions. Ireland's morale was revived, however, when both batters fell in the space of four deliveries. Mehidy was the first to fall, slicing Gavin Hoey to point before Litton was caught at slip off Humphreys attempting a slog-sweep. Taijul Islam's stay at the crease was brief as he was bowled by Hoey a few overs later leaving Bangladesh on 443/8.

There was a brief counter-attack, primarily from Ebadot Hossain who struck three fours and a six in an 18-run Hoey over. But there wasn't much more the Bangladeshi tail could offer as Andy McBrine first dismissed Hasan Murad to complete his fifer before trapping Khaled Ahmed LBW three overs later to end the innings.

In reply, Balbirnie successfully reviewed after being adjudged LBW off the second ball of the innings. Bangladesh's bowlers continued to probe but any loose deliveries on offer were promptly dispatched by Ireland. Paul Stirling was particularly stern and even struck Taijul for a six in the 10th over.

The opening stand of 41 would end up being the most substantial partnership Ireland would have for the rest of the day. It came to an end when Stirling was trapped LBW by Khaled Ahmed in the 11th over. Ireland's skipper Balbirnie departed next, inside-edging on to his pad before being caught at slip in the 19th over. Cade Carmichael wasn't able to extend his patient vigil after being trapped LBW by Mehidy while Curtis Campher was dismissed for a four-ball duck in the following over.

Lorcan Tucker managed to review successfully after being given out LBW but his partner, Harry Tector, wasn't so lucky as he was trapped in front an over later. Tucker survived another LBW shout - one that Bangladesh reviewed only to learn that the batter had successfully jammed Hasan Murad's yorker out. Ireland were left on 98/5 and 378 behind Bangladesh when Stumps were drawn on Day 2.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 476 all-out (Litton Das 128, Mushfiqur Rahim 106; Andy McBrine 6-109) lead Ireland 98/5 (Paul Stirling 27, Andrew Balbirnie 21; Hasan Murad 2-10) by 378 runs
