Blair Tickner has replaced Kyle Jamieson in the New Zealand squad for the ongoing three-match ODI series between England and New Zealand. The latter was ruled out of the series on Monday (October 27) after having suffered a stiff left side.
Tickner last played for New Zealand in 2023 but has made 13 ODI appearances so far with 16 wickets to his name. Speaking on the replacement, head coach Rob Walter felt the 32-year-old Tickner was a like=for-like replacement for Jamieson.
"Blair's an experienced campaigner and no stranger to international cricket," he said. "He bowls a heavy ball from a decent height with plenty of energy and aggression. In that respect he can fill a similar role to what Kyle would normally perform."
On Sunday, New Zealand beat England by four wickets at the Bay Oval despite a Harry Brook masterclass with the bat to see them go 1-0 up in the three-match ODI series.
The two teams are relocating to Hamilton as they gear up to play the second ODI at Seddon Park on Wednesday (October 29).
