

Best Batting performances
Andhra dominated the opening day of their contest against Uttar Pradesh in Kanpur, courtesy KS Bharat's 142, his 11th first-class century. He added a 93-run stand with his opening partner, Abhishek Reddy, and followed it up with a mammoth 194-run partnership in the company of Shaik Rasheed, who went to stumps unbeaten on 94 as Andhra piled on 289 for 3.
Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 125, his ninth first-class ton, paved the way for Jharkhand's 307 for 6on the opening day of their clash against Tamil Nadu in Coimbatore. After Gurjapneet Singh had pegged Jharkhand back with three early strikes, Kishan added an unbeaten 150-run stand with Sahil Raj for the sixth wicket. He stroked 14 boundaries and two sixes.
Abhinav Tejrana made a commanding start to his first-class career, stroking an unbeaten 130 on debut against Chandigarh. The 24-year-old's maiden century helped Goa post a massive 291 for 3 on the opening day in Porvorim. In the company of Lalit Yadav, he stitched an unbeaten 177-run stand for the fourth wicket after Vishnu Kashyap bagged the first three wickets.
Led by Siddhesh Lad's 11th first-class century and Shams Mulani's unbeaten 79, Mumbai ended Day 1 on 336 for 5after Jammu & Kashmir's bowlers had reduced them to 141 for 4 mid-way through the second session. Lad struck 17 boundaries and three sixes in his knock, adding 159 runs for the fifth wicket with Mulani.
Ajay Mandal's fifth first-class century revived Chhattisgarh's innings and helped them reach 287 for 7 at the end of opening day's play against Rajasthan in Rajsamand. Put in to bat, Rajasthan were left reeling at 49 for 5 courtesy Ankit Chaudhary's three scalps and Khaleel Ahmed's brace. However, Mandal steadied the innings with a 104-run stand in the company of Ashutosh innings, and then combined with Aditya Sarwate and Vashudev Bareth to add 65 and 69 runs respectively for the following wickets.
Ruturaj Gaikwad bailed Maharashtra out from a precarious situation but fell seven runs short of a century on the opening day of their contest against Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram. Gaikwad's effort was supported by Jalaj Saxena's 49.
Led by Aman Mokhade's maiden first-class century, an unbeaten 148, defending champions Vidarbha made a strong start to their new campaign, posting 302 for 3 on the opening day against Nagaland in Bengaluru. He was well supported with half-centuries from Dhruv Shorey (64) and Yash Rathod (66*), posting century stands with both.
Sanat Sangwan, Ayush Badoni and Ayush Doseja stroked half-centuries as Delhi posted 256 for 3 on the opening day against Hyderabad. Put in to bat, Delhi lost two early wickets but were bailed out with Sangwan stitching an 89-run stand before adding an unbeaten 143-run partnership with Doseja, who posted his maiden first-class half-century.
Half-centuries by Ekant Sen and Mayank Dagar undid the early damage by Jayant Yadav and Sagar Udeshi, allowing Himachal to post 176 for 5 on the opening day against Puducherry. The duo put on a 129-run alliance after Himachal were reduced to 35 for 4.
Gurinder Singh and Kranti Singh posted half-centuries as Sikkim revived their innings from 92 for 5 to end the day on 265 for 7 against Manipur in Ranjpo. The duo added 149 runs for the sixth wicket. Bishworjit Konthoujam was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets.
Ayush Loharuka blasted his second first-class century as Bihar posted 283 for 2 after bundling out Arunachal Pradesh for 105 in Patna. He stitched century partnerships with Arnav Kishor and Sakibul Gani, both of whom scored fifties. Earlier in the day, Sakib Hussain bagged his maiden fifer (6 for 41) as only four Arunachal batters managed double digit scores.
Subhranshu Senapati (79) and Rajesh Dhupar (76*) stroked half-centuries to bail Odisha out from a tricky situation and head to stumps on 205 for 5 on the opening day against Baroda in Cuttack. Reduced to 49 for 4 courtesy a brace each by Atit Sheth and Bhargav Bhatt, the duo added 156 runs for the fifth wicket before Senapati departed in the last over of the day.
Half-centuries by Devdutt Padikkal, Karun Nair and Smaran Ravichandran kept Karnataka steady at 295 for 5 on the opening day against Saurashtra in Rajkot. Karun and Padikkal set the stage with a 166-run stand for the third wicket before Smaran controlled the innings in the company of Shreyas Gopal, adding an unbeaten 81-run partnership, offsetting the impact of Dharmendrasinh Jadeja's four-fer.
Best bowling performances
Kerala dominated the opening day courtesy MD Nidheesh's four-fer as Maharashtra were reduced to 179 for 7 by the end of the day's play. At the start, it was much worse for the tourists, who had lost their first four wickets without any of them scoring a run.
Saransh Jain's career best effort (6/75) bundled out Punjab for 232 on the opening day before Madhya Pradesh went to stumps on 6 for no loss. It was the 10th first-class fifer for the offspinner. Several Punjab batters managed to get starts, especially Naman Dhir and Krish Bhagat, but none apart from Uday Saharan could post a half-century.
A collective bowling performance by Bengal, bundled out Uttarakhand for 213 on the opening day in Kolkata. The hosts also lost the wicket of Abhimanyu Easwaran late in the day, heading to stumps on 8 for 1. Bengal's bowling efforts were led by Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal, who continued his impressive showing in yet another season, starting off with a four-fer. Mohammed Shami and Ishan Porel also chipped in with three wickets apiece, with the former cleaning up the tail.
Sumit Kumar's 4-fer helped Haryana claw back in the contest against Railways on the 16-wicket opening day. After being bundled out for 171, Haryana reduced Railways to 93 for 6 in Surat. While Parth Vats led the way with the bat for Haryana, scoring the only half-century of the day, only two Railways batters managed to reach double digits. For Railways, Zubair Ali and Akash Pandey bagged three wickets each.
On a slow moving day in Ahmedabad, Siddharth Desai's triple strike kept Assam to 218 for 6 despite Pradyun Saikia's 70 - his maiden first-class half-century. All other batters managed to get starts, but couldn't convert their innings into anything substantial, with Riyan Parag's 40 being the second best.
Swapnil Singh bagged three wickets but half-centuries from Shivam Kumar (72), Ravi Chauhan (90) and Nakul Sharma (64*) helped Services end the opening day against Tripura on 246 for 6. Shivam and Ravi's 99-run stand had laid a strong platform but Swapnil's burst and Parvez Sultan's double strike reduced Services from 133 for 1 to 143 for 5 in a short span.
