Jasprit Bumrah struck with the first ball of his second over on the day to dismiss Usman Khawaja.

Bumrah also dismissed Nathan McSweeney taking his average against Australia's openers in this series to 4.28 for a total of 7 dismissals.

Mohammed Siraj was involved in an absorbing battle with Marnus Labuschagne.

Nitish Reddy dismissed Labuschagne on 12 with a full, wide delivery outside off-stump.

India had a brief scare when Siraj pulled up midway through the seventh over of his spell. But he did return to field thereafter.

Travis Head got going quickly once more as he sought to put the pressure back on India.

Steve Smith survived a probing spell from Akash Deep after the lunch interval.

At the other end, Travis Head attacked his way to a 71-ball half-century, his third 50+ score on the bounce in the series.

Travis Head got to back-to-back hundreds in the series, this one off 115 balls.

Steve Smith got to his first century of 2024 and his 10th against India in the format.

Smith and Head put on 241 for the fourth wicket off just 297 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets in 12 balls with the second new ball to complete a superb five-fer. This included both the wickets of Smith and Head.

Alex Carey added an unbeaten 45 before close of play to take Australia to 405/7 at Stumps.
