New Zealand VS India - 1st ODI
IND Inngs
Prasidh to Mitchell, out Lbw!! This is a big wicket for India. Mitchell goes with still 14 balls remaining. Nonetheless, a fine hand comes to an end. Prasidh changes his length and immediately reaps rewards. He goes full and straight, Mitchell is standing deep in the crease with the front leg out of the way, miesses the heave to the leg-side and is pinned on the back pad. The impact was right in front of the stumps and ball-tracking showed it to be smashing into leg-stump. Mitchell would feel it was in the slot and he missed out.. Mitchell lbw b Prasidh 84(71) [4s-5 6s-3]
Siraj to Foulkes, out Bowled!! Dragged on! Foulkes does not last long. New Zealand continue to lose wickets regularly. Good length ball around off, Foulkes is hanging back to defend whereas he should have been forward, dangles his bat out and gets a toe-end onto the off-stump. The ball skidded through and didn't bounce as much as Foulkes expected it to. Foulkes b Siraj 1(2)
Harshit Rana to Mitchell, out Michael Bracewell Run Out!! 1 run completed. Brilliant work by Iyer. This is a massive wicket as Bracewell has a good record against India especially while batting at this stage of the innings. Harshit spears it into the blockhole, Mitchell digs it in front of long-on and Bracewell called him for the second. He had to hurry as Iyer swoops in from the rope, picks the ball up cleanly and hits the target at the non-striker's end. Bracewell was just short of the crease. Only a direct-hit would have had Bracewell and Iyer hit the bullseye. Michael Bracewell run out (Shreyas Iyer) 16(18) [4s-1]
Prasidh to Mitchell Hay, out Bowled!! Cleaned up! That's a beauty and Hay has no clue about it - nips back in sharply, was it a case of reverse swing? Jagged back into the right-hander and catches Hay in the crease, burst past the inside edge and crashes into the top of middle-stump - that's a corker and Prasidh has broken through for India. Mitchell Hay b Prasidh 18(13) [4s-2]
Kuldeep Yadav to Phillips, out Caught by Shreyas Iyer!! Lovely bowling and Phillips falls to the guile of Kuldeep - tossed up slower and on off, draws Phillips forward and the ball then dips wickedly onto the right-hander - Phillips goes through with the drive, but the bottom-hand comes off on impact and he ends up spooning a sitter to Shreyas at cover-point. Phillips c Shreyas Iyer b Kuldeep Yadav 12(19) [4s-1]
Siraj to Will Young, out Caught by Rahul!! Third wicket for India. It is the pacers doing the damage. Two for Harshit and now Siraj strikes in his second spell. They have identified that bowling into the wicket with pace off is the way to go and Siraj is doing that since returning for this spell. 126ks short of length delivery, bowled into the wicket and the line is close to off, Young arches back and tries the ramp but since there's no pace, he gets a feather and Rahul takes a simple low catch. Will Young c Rahul b Siraj 12(16)
Harshit Rana to Conway, out Bowled!! Dragged on! Harshit has come back and removed the two set openers in consecutive overs. He's pumped and why not! 142.2ks fullish delivery, lands on the seam and nips in a little, Conway thinks it is there for the drive and pushes his hands well away from the body, gets a thick inside edge and the ball crashes into leg-stump. India pulling things back and starting to squeeze New Zealand. Conway b Harshit Rana 56(67) [4s-6 6s-1]
Harshit Rana to Nicholls, out Caught by Rahul!! Was that a set-up? Bowled a couple of short of length deliveries and gave away two fours, then slips in the slower one and breaks the partnership. 113ks off-cutter outside off, would have been a wide had Nicholls let go, but he reaches and squeezes it off the outside edge, the ball lobs to the left of Rahul and he dives across to hang on. Much needed wicket as the tempo had started to pick in the last few overs. Nicholls c Rahul b Harshit Rana 62(69) [4s-8]
NZ Inngs
Kristian Clarke to Harshit Rana, out Caught by Mitchell Hay!! Gone! Just when you think India have gained the upper hand, New Zealand strike back. Maiden ODI wicket for Clarke. Pace on short of length delivery, Harshit stays leg-side and looks to pull, gets a top-edge and the ball flies behind, Hay hangs on. Nice little cameo from Harshit, took the pressure off Rahul and got India closer to the target. Harshit Rana c Mitchell Hay b Kristian Clarke 29(23) [4s-2 6s-1]
Jamieson to Shreyas Iyer, out Bowled!! Cleaned up! 3 wickets in 7 balls. He's also on a hat-trick. New Zealand are right back in this contest. Washington might not bat because of a side strain and Harshit is the one walking out to the middle. India may be effectively six down. Another cross-seam delivery, nips in a little and Iyer plays a bad shot, he looks to drive on the up and is beaten on the inside edge, the ball hits the top of off-stump. India have gone from 234/2 to 242/5.. It is Rahul and the bowlers from hereon. Shreyas Iyer b Jamieson 49(47) [4s-4 6s-1]
Jamieson to Jadeja, out Caught by Kristian Clarke!! Second wicket in the over. New Zealand are not out of this. Jamieson has superb figures - 9-1-38-3 - but more importantly he's brought his side back into the contest. 128.4ks cross-seam delivery, angled in and might have held up a bit, Jadeja checks his shot and chips it to mid-on. Clarke is well inside the ring and takes a low catch. Jadeja is livid with himself - bangs his bat onto the ground before walking off. Jadeja c Kristian Clarke b Jamieson 4(5)
Jamieson to Kohli, out Caught by Michael Bracewell!! Oh no! The Vadodara crowd are stunned. Just before this ball was bowled a kid was holding a placard about Kohli's hundred. Number 54 will have to wait.. He charges down and is met by a back of a length delivery, not there for the drive, but Kohli thinks he could get it over mid-off, goes through with the drive and gets it high on the bat, the ball was still travelling and Bracewell moves to his right to grab on. Sharp catch! Is there still life left in this game? The partnership is broken and New Zealand will feel another wicket then this game can get close. Nonetheless, a fine knock comes to an end. After being stunned the Vadodara crowd applaud Kohli off the field. Kohli c Michael Bracewell b Jamieson 93(91) [4s-8 6s-1]
Adithya Ashok to Gill, out Caught by Phillips!! The partnership is broken. Adithya with the big wicket of Gill. That break in play did the trick for New Zealand. Adithya's pumped. Floated up outside off, draws Gill into the drive and he does not keep it down, hits it uppishly towards extra cover and Phillips hangs on with both hands. The pair were in complete control, runs were flowing and there was a slight pause in play - enough to break Gill's concentration. Gill c Phillips b Adithya Ashok 56(71) [4s-3 6s-2]
Jamieson to Rohit, out Caught by Michael Bracewell!! There's the wicket for Jamieson, he kept Rohit quiet in this over and has got his reward - saw the right-hander backing away and followed him with a very full ball, Rohit then tried to go inside out over cover, but he's cramped for room, gets it low off the bat and chips it to the left of mid-off - Bracewell runs to his left at mid-off, keeps his eyes on the ball and clutches the ball with ease. Rohit c Michael Bracewell b Jamieson 26(29) [4s-3 6s-2]
