SUMMARY

An opening batsman and a sound wicket-keeper, Charles Wright served Nottinghamshire with distinction from 1882 and 1899. However, he did not have a lengthy Test career. His three Test appearances came on the 1896 tour to South Africa.

Wright was forced to retire from the game in 1901 after losing his eye in a shooting accident.

Trivia: In 1893, Wright became the fourth batsman to be given out handled the ball.
