SUMMARY

Born June 8, 1866, Tynemouth, Northumberland, Punch Philipson played 5 Tests for England between 1892 and 1895. The stiff competition with Grigot McGregor did not help his cause either.

Philipson was also good in other games. He won the title of Racquets Champion at Eton and represented Oxford against Cambridge both at Racquets and in the Tennis singles and doubles. His nephew, Maxwell Woosnam, played for Cambridge University.
