PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That’s all for this match as Oman are officially eliminated from the World Cup. We are moving over to the England vs Scotland game, where England have won the toss and opted to field. Catch you there for the next one, bye-bye for now!
Lorcan Tucker: Previous game wasn't one of our best days. I think things didn't work out for us, but we just turned it around and played with positivity today. We knew they (Oman) were a good side, we've played against them before, we haven't always beaten them. They're competitive. It's all just important to respect your opposition. They bowled really well at the start in the powerplay and through the first ten. We tried to make sure that we were just staying in the game, gave ourselves an opportunity to come home strong in that first innings. (Good toss to lose?) We had talked about batting first. I think in general the pitch was pretty good. We were happy to do either. I think it worked out nicely in the end though, batting first. (Morale of the team after this win?) It's massive. We needed to come here and win today and put in a good performance. I think we're not out of the competition yet, but we need some things to go our way. A bit of a boost for our run-rate there as well won't do any harm.
Jatinder Singh: (On opting to bowl) Well, I think since it was a new track and we just wanted to bowl first, because we didn't know because last time also we lost the toss and they had put us in. So we just wanted to bowl first. (What could have been done differently?) I think when we took the four wickets, we were very much in the game. After 10 overs, they built a partnership. I think credit goes to Tucker. The way he built the partnership with Delany was masterful and yeah, I think we tried to execute our plans, but we failed to execute, but they were very much in the game and they were taking over the bowlers. (Chat before the run-chase) Well, the message was simple. Just go out and go for the shots, go and chase the target because 235, you can't be playing down. So you have to go and play some strokes. Yeah, but we lost too many wickets in the span of maybe 25 runs. But otherwise, I think we were very much in the game. I think till the 10th over after that, I think we lost the grip. (On the next game) We just have to keep our head up, because one thing is there, that as in our side, we lack experience and we lack exposure. I think by playing with the top sides, we can gain that.
Lorcan Tucker | Player of the Match: It felt like we had a mixed powerplay. We hit a lot of boundaries and probably lost a few more wickets than we had planned to lose. But I think we were just trying to keep our momentum moving. It felt like the pitch was good, the outfield was quick, and we just tried to capitalise on it where we could. (On his role in the side) Yeah, I think it's maybe a little bit tougher than batting at the start. So I find this a bit more responsibility, especially if we lose wickets early. But I think I've sort of grown into it, gotten more familiar with batting against spin through the middle. I had to put a lot of work in, but luckily it came off today. (Plan against spin) I think just try to keep our tempo throughout and not try and get into a bit of a rush. I think try to rotate as much as possible and if they bowl bad balls, try and capitalise with a few boundaries. (On hitting a lot of boundaries) Yeah, I think it was great. I think we managed to set up the innings. We got through that tricky middle period and gave ourselves a good opportunity to come home strong and we did. And George (Dockrell) and Gareth (Delany) batted really nicely towards the back end.

14:28 Local Time, 08:58 GMT, 14:28 IST: Oman started with a spirited and aggressive start, but they were technically always behind in the game as they struggled to keep pace with a demanding target of 236 runs. While they initially showed great confidence and reached a strong position of 102 for 3 by the 11th over, they needed a massive performance to pull off what would have been an incredibly impressive win. This early charge was spearheaded by a brilliant half-century from Aamir Kaleem, who looked in sublime touch as he found boundaries with ease. He was excellently supported by Mirza, and together they stitched a vital third-wicket partnership that momentarily put the Irish bowlers under pressure and gave Oman a glimmer of hope. However, the game took a sudden and disastrous turn once the set batters were dismissed, triggering a collapse that saw the middle and lower order completely crumble. Josh Little was the pick of the bowlers for Ireland, turning the game with a clinical spell of 3 for 16 in his 4 overs, while Humphreys, McCarthy, and Dockrell all chipped in by picking up the remaining wickets to maintain the pressure. This collective bowling effort ensured Oman lost their last seven wickets for just 42 runs. After such a promising start, they were eventually bundled out for 139, handing Ireland a dominant 96-run victory. Post-match presentations to follow in a bit.
