PLAYER OF THE SERIES
Pakistan A are the deserved winners of the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025! They were the only unbeaten team through the course of the tournament and have stood tall to own the stage in the grand finale as well. Pakistan A are the only team to win the tournament three times. - just shows that they have enjoyed the big stage. Bangladesh A gave them a run for their money but couldn't hold their nerve in the closing stages of what was a cracker of a game. This year's tournament was a testament to the abundance of raw talent that is present at this level. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Time for the glory moment! Irfan Khan has been presented the trophy and he has a beaming smile on his face! The Pakistani players get together and the celebrations begin...
Irfan Khan | Pakistan A captain: It was a high-voltage game, it was really entertaining for the fans. It was a tough wicket as well, the way the game panned out, it was worth of a finale. If we had played normal cricket and with our batting lineup, we could have scored 180 but early wickets cost us. We played out 20 overs. I had the confidence in our bowlers and had the belief that we could defend this total. After we batted, we knew that the wicket was suitable for the spinners and our spinners responded well. I had belief in our team from the first day, they are youngsters but we know we can beat anyone. I always try to be cool, I try to read the situation and go accordingly. Thank you so much everyone for your support, it felt really good.
Akbar Ali | Bangladesh A captain: The belief was there but in terms of shot-selection we weren't good enough, we can only blame ourselves actually. We knew that in this type of wicket, playing against the spinners won't be easy because when we bowled, they hardly scored runs. It was a battle of spinners and unfortunately, we couldn't come out on top. At one point we were looking down and out but Rakibul and Saqlain showed character. But proud of the boys for the overall performance. Definitely proud of the boys, we have two players who are yet to play U-19 cricket. We have a great bunch of players. From our team, we want to say a huge, huge thank you. The Bangladeshi brothers and sisters have shown us a lot of support throughout.
Maaz Sadaqat | Player of the Series: I'm feeling really good, I had planned that we have to win the trophy and I'm really happy that we won the trophy. Whenever he (Irfan Khan) gave me an over, he trusted me. The coach also told me that I have to apply my role. I told earlier as well that I keep on working on myself. Thank you to the crowd for supporting us.
Ahmed Daniyal | Player of the Match: (On him bowling with a slight niggle at the fag end) Injury doesn't matter, we played well as a team and we have to perform. All the credit goes to the players as well. We trusted each other and that helped us all. (On his plans in the last over) I bowl yorkers well so I wanted to back myself. Irfan came to me before the 4th delivery and he suggested that I can also bowl length balls. I went with length balls after that and it worked for us. Before the Super over, I told my skipper to trust me and told him that I will do it for my team.
Daniyal: I'm thankful to Allah that he gave me and my team success in the final over. I had a plan and I was able to execute it well. (On his plans in the Super Over) When I bowled the first ball and when I tried to bowl a yorker on the second ball, it didn't turn out right. After that. i wanted to keep it on a length as the ball was skidding through and I was able to knock over the batter. I talked to the captain and the coach that I will win the game for our team, I said that to them in the final stages of the game and also in the powerplay.
Pakistan A were the favourites with 27 needed off 12 balls with only one Bangladeshi wicket remaining. But, a 20-run penultimate over from Aziz meant that the game was wide open. 7 runs were needed off the final over. Daniyal bowled a good over but he missed a run-out chance off his own bowling on the penultimate delivery which ultimately led to the Super Over. Daniyal though bowled a terrific Super Over in which he took two wickets and only conceded 6 runs to set up the game for his side. Pakistan A needed 7 and the boundary from Masood off the third delivery meant that the scores were level. Masood eventually took his side to the finish line with a couple of balls to spare.
21:22 Local Time, 18:22 GMT, 23:52 IST: A game worthy of a grand finale! Elation for Pakistan A while dejection for Bangladesh A! Both teams gave it their all but it was Pakistan A who held their nerve when it mattered the most to find glory! 126 didn't look like a threatening total at all but the pressure of the grand finale came into the limelight once again. The Pakistani spinners ruled the roost on a surface that was gripping and made life really difficult for the Bangladeshi batters. There was a major collapse as Bangladsh A went from 22/0 to 53/7. It all looked down and out for them but Rakibul Hasan came out swinging and struck three boundaries in the 12th over to give some momentum to his side. Rakibul and Meherob took it deep but both fell while attempting expansive shots.
Ball 4 - Ripon to Masood - 1 run, what a win for Pakistan A! The Pakistani players rush in from the dug out and mob both Masood and Sadaqat. Was a yorker length delivery outside off, Masood swung and got an inside edge past his stumps towards fine leg to send his side into a frenzy. Pakistan A lift the trophy for the third time
Ball 3 - Ripon to Masood - FOUR, that will do for Pakistan! The scores are level now! Very full delivery shaping in, Masood clears his front leg and swings hard. He drags it through backward square leg. The fielder in the deep hares to his right but can't stop it. Only 1 needed off 3 now
Ball 2 - Ripon to Sadaqat - 1 run, Ripon is on the money once again! He nails the yorker. Sadaqat digs it out and his partner calls him through. Ripon hares towards it, picks the ball and has a shy at his end but misses. Had he hit, Sadaqat was a goner
Ball 1 - Ripon to Masood - leg byes, 1 run, well bowled! A searing yorker tailing towards leg-stump, Masood tries to whip it across but it deflects off his boots towards square leg for a leg bye
Ripon Mondol will bowl the Super Over. Masood and Sadaqat are the Pakistani openers.
Pakistan A need 7 runs to win! It was a good over from Daniyal apart from the wayward delivery which resulted in five wides. He kept it on a back of a length for the majority in the tight off-stump channel and induced false stroke from the batters. Both Saqlain and Jishan were rushed for pace and paid the price.
Ball 3 - Daniyal to Jishan - OUT! Bowled!! Daniyal is right on the money and uproots the stumps! A skiddy good length delivery seaming in on off, Jishan clears his front leg and tries to swipe it across but misses and the ball crashes into the middle and off-stump.
Ball 3 - Daniyal to Jishan - 5 wides, Daniyal loses his radar as he slips the length delivery down leg, Jishan swings at it but misses. The keeper dives to his left and gets a part of his gloves to it but it bursts through and runs to the fence behind
Ball 2 - Daniyal to Saqlain - OUT! Caught & Bowled by Daniyal! A skiddy shortish delivery on off, Saqlain goes for the pull across the line but gets a leading edge over the bowler's head. Daniyal is calm as he moves back and settles himself to take a well-judged catch.
Ball 1 - Daniyal to Habibur - 1 run, a skiddy back of a length delivery on off, Habibur mistimes the flat-batted stroke towards long-on. Only a single
We are ready for the Super Over. Bangladesh A batted second so they are coming out to bat. Daniyal to bowl the Super Over. Habibur and Saqlain are the Bangladeshi openers. Here we go...
