PLAYER OF THE SERIES
All smiles as Shaheen collects the trophy. Time to pose behind the "winners" hoarding as the players grin in unison. It's the 8th ODI series win for Pakistan at home since 2015. The focus will now shift to the T20I tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe starting on Tuesday (18 November). Remember, all games will be played at the same venue - Rawalpindi. Do check this space for all the latest in cricket. Until next time, cheers and goodbye!!
Shaheen Afridi | PAK skipper: Winning the series, really happy for that. Everyone played a good role in the previous series against South Africa and this one as well. The rotation policy is good for us, the entire squad is ready to chip in at any stage. Faisal bowled really well and the way Wasim came back after injury and first Player of the Match for him and special mention to Haris Rauf as well.
Kusal Mendis | SL skipper: 5 top batters got starts, but they did not continue well and build on it. So, we will try to improve on that going forward. Vandersay played really well and bowled really well and I am very happy for him. He is playing for Sri Lanka after a long time. In T20s there will be few players coming in who are in good form. It is very cold here and looking forward to the T20 series.
Haris Rauf | Player of the Series: Thanks to the Almighty. I always keep myself ready mentally to bowl at any stage of the game and strive to give my best every time I get a chance. It's important to pick wickets no matter the situation of the game, sometimes I might go for runs because of the surfaces which are good for batting and I always rely on pace rather than variations to get wickets.
Mohammad Wasim | Player of the Match: Thanks to the Almighty. It's a combined effort from all the bowlers. The old ball doesn't doo much, so it is important to hit the right lengths and the focus is always on building dot balls which eventually brings the wickets. I am confident of my variations as well.
22:13 local, 17:13 GMT, 22:43 IST: It's a series whitewash. 211 was never going to be enough. Sri Lanka did have their moments when they picked up Haseebullah Khan for a duck early on, and when they removed Babar and Salman Agha in the space of 4 overs. Pakistan were 115/4 at the end of 25 overs. In fact, they were well behind in comparision to Sri Lanka's run rate for most part of the chase. However, the best part with chasing a low total is that, you can afford to play it safe and take it deep. Hussain Talat and Rizwan executed that ploy to perfection to seal the game with a 100-plus unbeaten stand. Jeffrey Vandersay impressed with figures of 3/42, but, unfortunately for the visitors, the rest didn't quite create the kind of impact they would have liked in the middle overs. Stick around for the post-match reactions...
