PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's it for this one. Do join us soon for more ILT20 action. For now it's bye bye from all of us here.
Adil Rashid | Player of the Match: Yeah, it was quite nice actually to go for a few runs. That could have easily turned the other way. You know, sometimes, especially in T20 cricket, bowling the 18, 20 as a spinner, it could easily go the other way where you get hit for sixes and fours but thankfully for myself it went my way today. Obviously, you've got to look at the conditions. You've got to look at the size of the ground. I've played against Russ and Jason for a long time as well. So sometimes that helps as well. But again, like I said, it can go the other way because they are fantastic players. Big hitters. You know, world beaters as well. So it could have gone the other way. But thankfully for me it went my way today. (on his batting) I think that was the plan. Ideally we were liking not to go that deep. Hopefully we were looking to win it with two overs to spare. But I think, like you say, Rewy played an exceptional knock. For myself it was just get bat on ball and try and get that single run, which we did. (on the remaining games) Yeah, definitely. We've got two big games. We've got to take a game at a time. Our next game is a big one. We're not looking too far ahead. We've got to see what Dubai and who we play against. Conditions there can change. And we've got to be adaptable. And hopefully, if we bring our A game, we can win that.
Sikandar Raza | Sharjah Warriorz captain: Yeah, certainly. Even though in the end, they ended up getting a lot more runs. But I thought still, had we started the game and somebody said to me, you'll be chasing 134, I would have taken it hands down. But credit to ADKR, the way they bowled and the way they fielded and make the game out of it. So yeah, in the end, it ended up being too close for comfort. But we'll take the win. (on Rashid) Yeah, certainly. Adil has been that workhorse for the team as well. We've asked him to bowl from a shorter end. We've asked him to bowl with the wind. We've asked him to bowl the last over today. I mean, just when you think Adil bhai cannot do something, we ended up asking him to do a role and he ended up doing it really well. So I thought that last over, now, if you look at the context of the game as well, that last over from Adil ended up being far too crucial. So credit to Adil, how he bowled today. Yeah, certainly. When Adil came out to bat, I was like, surely he's going to hit the winning run because the man deserved it. He's bowled really well. He's fielded really well. Took some good catches. As a matter of fact, took a blinder at the start as well. That kicked us off. Our fielding was spot on. And once you take those early good catches as well, it lifts everybody. So Adil was everywhere today. So it was nice for him to finish the game off. But yeah, it was nice to have that partnership. But I think myself and Rewy should have finished the game, something that I need to work on better.
Jason Holder | Abu Dhabi Knight Riders captain: Definitely not. It proved in the end that it wasn't enough even although the game came down to the last ball. Credit to our bowlers, I thought they did a hell of a job to stretch the game that deep. And the attitude on the field was pretty good from our boys, but sadly we didn't make enough runs. We needed a few things to go our way, obviously. We had a decent powerplay, we got wickets in the powerplay, which was key. I said to Ajay that if we get three wickets in the powerplay, it's game on here. That spell in tandem with Sunil and then Olly, I thought was crucial for us. If we had squeezed one or two more in that spell, I thought the game was definitely tipped in our favour. We still had to come at the end and execute, definitely momentum swung in our favour. Again, when you defending such a low total, you need a few things to go your way and they obviously didn't go our way today. (on their last game) Yeah, still something to play for, obviously. We've got to do better. We obviously let ourselves down this campaign. We fell way short of our expectations, way short of our potential. It's something that we've got to take stock of as individuals first and then as a team. I'm sure a few discussions will be had in the dressing room as to how we can get better in the future. But I think for this campaign, you know, utterly disappointed not to go into the next stage of the competition. But having said that, one game left and something to play for.
22:06 Local Time, 18:06 GMT, 23:36 IST: A topsy-turvy game but it's the Warriorz who have prevailed. ADKR fought and fought but the calmness of Adil Rashid and James Rew sees the Warriorz through. One has to feel for Russell - he had ankle issues and couldn't run in properly but still gave it his all. Battling pain and his body, he tried. Look at his reaction - he is on the floor distraught. The top three went early but TKC and Raza survived a fine spell from Narine and Stone and then James Rew took over. His 42 was so crucial as he showed his class. That ankle trouble hampered Russell and he was the most expensive of the lot. The win sees the Warriorz join ADKR on 6 points having played one game less. The race for the top four heats up after tonight's result. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...
