That's it for the ILT20 action for the night. We will be back tomorrow for more. Do join us then. For now it's bye bye from all of us here.
Khuzaima Tanveer | Player of the Match: The plan was simple. I wanted to bowl swinging deliveries. The pitch supported me really well early on, and I just focused on looking for wickets. I think the Gurbaz bhai one. That ball swung back in and hit the top of off. That was my favourite. If you ask every bowler what they like, they’ll always say batting! Every bowler enjoys their batting a bit too much.
Lockie Ferguson | Desert Vipers captain: (Khuzaima) He's been amazing for us all season. We spoke about him before the season, last season he was great for us. He's done it with the bat, winning us games. And of course tonight he had an outstanding performance with the ball, swinging it both ways. It was a pleasure to watch. (on Khuzaima not being as quick as him, did that help?) I'm not sure about that. Yeah, I mean, not from Khuzaima's point of view. He's played a lot of cricket leading up to here. It looks like his rhythm is working really well for him. And of course the ball's coming out well, and he's taking wickets. So I think he's in a good space. Yes, it was nice to get over the line a little bit earlier than the other games we've had. We’ll take two points, as they come. Khuzaima was great tonight, and it was nice to see Max and Sammy put on a big partnership and get some runs.
James Vince | Gulf Giants captain: He bowled really well - credit to him. As a batting group you always look back at what you could’ve done differently to negate that period better and maybe limit it to one or two wickets. But we were behind the game early on. I thought we fought reasonably well to get up to 158 or whatever it was, Daws at the end played really well. Kyle Mayers, in his first game, had a good impact, and Asif as well. It actually felt like the best pitch we’ve played on this year, but we still felt a little under-par. And with the dew coming in during the second innings, batting tends to get a bit easier. So we knew we had to take early wickets with the new ball. We got one reasonably early, but we weren’t able to contain them enough or build pressure consistently. So yeah, probably the first game of the tournament where we’ve been outplayed pretty much from the beginning. (is a dew a signifcant factor here?) It is significant, especially on a better wicket like this. Some of the earlier pitches were a bit slower, so the dew didn’t change things too much. But on a harder surface, once the ball gets wet it skids on nicely for the batters. For spinners, gripping the ball becomes trickier. It’s not the be-all and end-all - it doesn’t determine the game - but it’s definitely a factor. That said, we were outplayed today regardless.
21:49 Local Time, 17:49 GMT, 23:19 IST: Such a comfortable chase this. The partnership between Sam Curran and Max Holden ensuring the Vipers win their 5th game on the trot as they stay top of the table. Their fine run continues in this tournament. Lots of happy faces in the Vipers' dugout. Fakhar and Hasan Nawaz went early - the latter due to a mix-up but after that this duo closed all the doors on the Giants. Sam Curran was in a belligerent mood, as he took Dawson out of the attack with three sixes in one over. Holden was retired out in the last game but he was a totally different player tonight. Right from the word go, he was positive and struck the ball well. The Giants just didn't have the firepower in their bowling to create any impact. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...
