Yudhvir broke the resistance of Gopal as he trapped him lbw with a nip-backer. But, Mayank ensured that he kept the J&K bowlers at bay and found an able ally in Kruthik Krishna. Mayank converted his fifty into a hundred and is still going strong. Abid Mushtaq created an opportunity at the fag end of the day but Wadhawan dropped Mayank on 124. The duo saw off the rest of the day with some determined batting. Karnataka still have a mountain to climb as they trail by 364 runs. Their lower order added 57 runs to their overnight tally before they were bowled out for a mammoth 584. In response, Auqib Nabi started off brilliantly with the new ball. He troubled Rahul with his inswingers and outswingers and eventually nicked him off with a peach. Soon after lunch, Sunil Kumar had Padikkal caught at slip with a good piece of bowling. Nabi once again was in the thick of things. He produced a couple of jaffas to get rid of Karun Nair and Smaran Ravichandran off successive deliveries. Karnataka were stuttering at 57/4. Amidst all this, Mayank Agarwal dug in. He batted with a lot of grit and composure and also punished the loose balls away. Shreyas Gopal gave him good support and the duo added 105 together.
