At the Optus, Perth Scorchers back themselves to defend anything and that's one of the reason they're so hard to beat at the Furnace. Sixers were hardly in the hunt with the bat tonight, but they'll hope that this was just a minor blip. They've got another chance as they await the winners of tomorrow's knockout. That'll be a home game for them and they've done really well at the SCG this season. They'll have to take the longer route if they're to meet the Scorchers once again coming Sunday at the Optus. That ends the coverage for today, but do join us tomorrow as the Hurricanes host the Stars with both teams battling for survival in the Knockout. For now, cheers and bye..
Finn Allen | Player of the Match - What an amazing feeling. I mean you can see the quality that's right up. That definitely shouldn't be me (if he deserved it). I think it's just variable bounce (on the batting difficulty here). They bowled well against us and I think our boys bowled really well there as well, we showed how hard it is to score out there and I think Smudge (Steven Smith) is obviously batting out of this world at the moment, he's probably the only one they've got not going, so I think, it just shows us throughout the bowling attack, we can we can do anything. Mahli (Beardman), honestly I'm so impressed with him. You know, he's got a pick this year, we had a few boys injured and he bowls fast, he knows where it's going and he's getting smarter and smarter each game, so whatever he's learned from game one to now, I've been really impressed with him. Maybe two a lot tomorrow. We'll go for a couple of days, get the training on Friday, Saturday and get ready for Sunday.
19:35 Local Time, 11:35 GMT, 17:05 IST: This is a thumping win and the Scorchers are through to the Big Bash Final for the 9th time. They're known to defend scores at the Optus, but this is a superb bowling performance to dismiss the Sixers for a meagre 99. Defending 147, they knew they had to take early wickets and that's exactly what they did. Babar Azam was smartly stumped for a duck - Josh Phillipe and Moises Henriques were bounced out and Steve Smith was starved off strike. He faced a mere 3 balls in the entire 4-over batting PP period and that did have a defining role in today's loss. Smith did make up and looked in command, but the Scorchers kept chipping away at the other end. The moment of the match came when Beardman returned to claim Smith, for a 24-ball 37 and the lower-order simply capitulated. They took the power surge at the start of the 14th over, but it simply led to a flood of wickets. Three wickets for the impressive Mahli Beardman, two each for David Payne and Cooper Connolly - the Scorchers now have earned themselves a break before they come back to the Optus on Sunday bidding for a 6th Big Bash title.

Jhye Richardson to Ben Dwarshuis, out Caught by Josh Inglis!! All-over - Perth Scorchers win and they've booked a home final. Another batter falling to the short ball, banged in short and it kept climbing onto the left-hander, Dwarshuis cleared his left leg on the hoick, gets a fat top-edge.straight up in the air - Josh Inglis calls for it and catches with his big gloves. Jhye Richardson to Ben Dwarshuis, 2 runs, that would've been the game had Richardson collected the ball, he fumbles and Mitchell Starc scrambles home - low full-toss and was driven to the left of long-on - was never a second run, but Dwarshuis wanted to keep strike - the fielder swoops on the ball and his return isn't great - gets to Richardson on the half-volley and he can't collect it, had he done so, Mitchell Starc wasn't even in the frame

David Payne to Sean Abbott, out Sean Abbott Run Out!! 1 run completed. Short of a good length and just outside off - pulled into the gap wide of mid-wicket and Abbott comes back for the second - oh dear! What happened here, he's run-out - that's tragic for Sean Abbott and the Sixers have lost their 9th wicket - was always a comfortable two, but the bat stuck on the ground as he looked to slide it in, the momentum made him stumble - his right leg was in the air when Josh Inglis broke the stumps - very very unlucky, but the 3rd umpire sends him on his way. Optus roars as they sense that the end is nigh for the Sixers now. Sean Abbott run out (Laurie Evans/Josh Inglis) 1(1)

David Payne to Joel Davies, out Bowled!! That could be the end of the Sixers tonight - Davies tries to maximize the power surge, fine leg was inside the ring, so he shuffles across and then looks to help the ball on its way with the slog sweep - but Payne has outsmarted him, kept it full and at the stumps - Davies swings and misses, his stumps are pegged back.
