The Stars have got off to a great start, the NRR says it all. The Scorchers would want to regain the top spot again and they will be up against the Heat, who would love to open their account tomorrow. Should be good fun tomorrow as well. We will see you soon. Take care!
Marcus Stoinis | PoTM: It's a relief to get a win early but the schedule has been nice as well. They let us have a five day lead in to the first game. The boys felt a lot calmer and it felt like we had a better system in place from the start of the tournament. A nice one by Cricket Australia (smiles). (Asked if he was involved in sledging Wade) No, we're so close (smiles). It's not even a sledge. I can't... No, I mean, I love him so it's good banter. It's fine. (On the pitch conditions) I think that was a really good wicket. Honestly, if we can roll that out, I think that's a good cricket wicket, a really good T20 wicket. (Kellaway) He's had a really good start to the domestic season. He's a really good player. The way he's been striking the nets, honestly, I don't want to say anything because I don't want to jinx it, but he's batting so well. So it was nice. He was always going to be sent in there. And it was actually nice for me to spend time in the middle with him. I haven't batted in the middle with him for maybe never. So he was really good. He was really composed, good communication. He's going to be a star.
22:38 Local Time, 11:38 GMT, 17:08 IST: All smiles in the green camp. The 16th over started with the Stars needing 22 runs to win and their captain went 4 2 2 4 4 6 to quickly seal the deal gain those bits on NRR as well. The bowlers did a fine job and restricting the Canes to 158/9 despite the assault from Ben McDermott and the threat of Tim David going rampant. Siddle, Rauf and Stoinis himself had good fun with the ball. The chase began with Clarke and Rogers laying a solid base. Rishad Hossain picked up two quick wickets but the Stars counterattacked by smashing his next 9 balls for 28 runs. Kellaway gave great company to his captain, who was absolutely switched on from the word go. Stoinis waited for the ball to be in his zone and when it came he cashed in. Ellis and Co. didn't have any answers to what eventually turned out to be a century stand for the third wicket.
