PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's all from this game. We will be back tomorrow with the Melbourne Stars in action for the first time this season. They take on Hobart Hurricanes. Do join us for that. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Jamie Overton | Player of the Match: I’d like to think so (if the chase was under control), but those first games of the season, you always just want to get over the line. So it’s nice to do that and get our first win on the board. Coming up against these guys is never easy, they’re one of the best franchises in the world, so to get the win in the opening game is very satisfying. Yeah, I think it’s been around 8 years, so it was great to break that duck. That makes it even more special. We felt pretty comfortable at the break (chasing 160). At times it was a bit sloppy - I think we gave away around a dozen extras - and there was some swing early on. So the plan was to play the conditions, get through the start, and then try and take the game on at the back end. Once we did that, it felt like we were mostly in control. Absolutely (enjoying his time). It’s my third season here and I love coming back, playing in front of the Adelaide fans and travelling around Australia. It’s one of my favourite places in the world, so I’m really enjoying it.
22:44 Local Time, 11:44 GMT, 17:14 IST: Adelaide Strikers have snapped their losing streak at the SCG and kick off their campaign with a win. It wasn’t a straightforward chase though as the Sixers made them work hard all the way. Both Short and Lynn departed cheaply, putting early pressure on the visitors. Liam Scott then played the anchor role, keeping the scoreboard ticking even as wickets kept falling at the other end. With the asking rate always under control, it briefly appeared the Strikers would cruise home, but Scott fell soon after bringing up a well-crafted half-century. The game tightened from there before Overton stepped up with a crucial knock, adding a vital 31-run stand with Wood. Overton departed with 6 runs still required, but Wood and Hasan Ali held their nerve to take the Strikers over the line. The Sixers fought hard but ultimately didn’t have enough runs on the board.

Hayden Kerr to Hasan Ali, 3 runs, short of length delivery, angled across and Hasan Ali fetches the pull, miscues it towards mid-on and manages to clear a backtracking Davies. The duo decide to race back for a third and Hasan Ali scrambles in before Kerr lights up the stumps. 2 off 5..

Mitchell Perry to Jamie Overton, out Caught by Hayden Kerr!! Gone! Is there still life left in this game? Overton is gone and opened the door slightly for the Sixers. Full pitcher outside off, it was in the slot and Overton slams it straight to long-off. He struck it flat and picked out Kerr. He's rightly disappointed as he walks off. The Strikers still need 6.. Jamie Overton c Hayden Kerr b Mitchell Perry 30(20) [4s-3 6s-1]

The Sixers are behind the over-rate and are penalised immediately. An extra fielder has to be brought in from this ball. The umpire signals the same
