The defending champions are off and running. Their first game was washed out but they held their nerve to win a thriller. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots started the season with a win but now it is three defeats in a row. They will quickly need to turn things around before the season slips out of their grasp. That's all from this game. We will be back tomorrow with Antigua and Barbuda Falcons vs Trinbago Knight Riders. Until then, goodbye and stay safe..
David Wiese: It got a little bit too close at the end there but happy to get over the line. We know that 200 was par on this ground, we left a few (runs) out there while batting. Charles gave us a good start, David showed what he can do in the middle overs but we didn't finish well. He (Pierre) bowled really well, even when there were two left-handers and people say left-arm spinners can't bowl to left-handers. 13 runs is an even contest at that stage (final over), but once the first ball went for six, then it was nothing-to-lose kind of situation, I was able to nail a couple of wide yorkers and Tim (David) managed to take a good catch on the rope. I am still inexperienced (at captaincy), but I have got a couple of games under my belt, as long as the bowlers are clear with their game plan I am happy to assist them.
Jason Holder: Proud of the guys and how they fought. Some of them thought we were out of the game but proud of how we fought till the end. The bowlers did a reasonable job in these conditions, we got a good start but lost too many wickets in the middle period. I just tried to pick my areas, pick my bowlers and the ground is such that you can pick your spots, happy with the way I batted but disappointed I could not take the team over the line. He (Bidaisee) showed a lot of heart and I am very pleased for him. I have told the guys not to get too high, not to get too low, take each game at a time.
Roston Chase | Player of the Match - It was a bit nerve wracking, we made it hard for ourselves, could have won outright. I didn't recognise it was a hat-trick ball, so I just wanted to play a few balls, assess the conditions and play my natural game. I just try to base my batting on what my team needs, that puts me in a good stead and there's no real pressure. First keep it tight, build pressure and that gets me wickets, I just don't go searching for wickets (with the ball), put pressure and that brings me the wickets. Our first match was rained out, so this was the first game for us, we kept it late, but it was a good win for us.
22:48 Local Time, 02:48 GMT, 08:18 IST: Phew! What a game! The first nail-biter of the season and it is Saint Lucia Kings who come out on the right side of it. They were in the driver's seat when the score read 61/4 with Fletcher, Mayers and Rossouw back in the hut. But that's the beauty of T20 cricket. it ain't over till the game is over. Holder started the fight back and kept his side in the hunt with a 29-ball 63. The Kings would have thought they had the game in their hand with Holder's departure but Bidaisee, who was given a reprieve on 7, took over from his skipper and collected the boundaries at regular intervals. It came down to 24 from the last 2 overs and that's when Alzarri got injured to add more drama, young Gaston was trusted in to complete the over but he could not close it out. Wiese was struck for a six off the first ball of the final over but he kept his nerve and delivered a thrilling victory for his team. Hang around for the presentations..
Wiese to Navian Bidaisee, out Caught by Tim David!! Oh no! Heartbreak for Bidaisee. Jubilation in the Saint Lucia Kings camp. They have won by 3 runs. Bidaisee is down on his knees. Wiese is the first one to walk up to him and have a word. Full and outside off, Bidaisee hits it flat and towards long-off, David runs to his right and takes a good catch. Pressure catch but he made it look easy - that's what experience does to you. This delivery was in the arc and Bidaisee is seen practising the big shot with an open bat face as he walks away, he wanted to hit it much squarer. Navian Bidaisee c Tim David b Wiese 50(36) [4s-2 6s-4]
Wiese to Navian Bidaisee, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Wiese to Jyd Goolie, 1 run, low full toss outside off, Goolie reaches out and toe-ends the drive to sweeper cover. That would have been a wide had Goolie let go
Wiese to Jyd Goolie, no run, oh no! Full and outside off, right in the arc and Goolie swings too hard, loses his shape and does not connect. 5 off 2..
Wiese to Jyd Goolie, no run, yorker outside off, Goolie bends down and is not able to squeeze it out, may have gotten an under-edge back to Seifert. 5 off 3..
Wiese to Navian Bidaisee, 1 run, fifty for Bidaisee. He was dropped early in his innings and he's making them pay. Lifts his bat and acknowledges the applause his team mates and the crowd. Can he take them over the line? Full toss outside off, Bidaisee drills it towards extra cover and Charles does well to get his body behind the ball
Wiese to Navian Bidaisee, wide, yorker outside off, well past the marker and Bidaisee lets it pass, easy call for the umpire. 6 from 5..
Wiese to Navian Bidaisee, SIX, whoa! Wiese misses the yorker - juicy full toss outside off, Bidaisee throws his bat and slices it over deep backward point. Once again the bottom hand comes off the bat handle but it doesn't matter as the ball sails over. Holder is off his seat and fist pumping..
13 from the last over. Wiese to bowl. Can the skipper deliver for the Saint Lucia Kings?
Keon Gaston to Jyd Goolie, SIX, oh no! Once again the last ball proves costly for Saint Lucia Kings. Gaston is down on his haunches. He went back of a length delivery and Goolie was ready for it, moves inside the line and pulls it over deep square leg. He turns around and fist pumps seeing the dugout
Keon Gaston to Jyd Goolie, no run, that's excellent. 128.5ks yorker outside off, Goolie bends down and is not able to squeeze it out
Keon Gaston to Jyd Goolie, wide, attempts the wide yorker but sprays it outside off, Goolie leaves and collects the wide
Keon Gaston to Navian Bidaisee, 1 run, back of a length delivery, Bidaisee shuffles across and tucks it behind square
Keon Gaston to Jyd Goolie, 1 run, full and outside off, Goolie drils the drive towards long-off and Wiese quickly releases the ball, just a single
Keon Gaston [1.0-0-14-0] is back into the attack
