So that's all from the opening game of CPL 2025. A dominant win for the home side St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Let's see how this tournament goes on from here, we'll be back tomorrow. See you then, bye for now!
Jason Holder: The bowlers were outstanding, we got wickets throughout the innings. Credit to Waqar for the way he has started here in CPL. It makes life easy when you have quality bowling, we want to be consistent - not get too high or too low. The past is history, we need to create our own legacy. Our destiny is in our hands. This is a new group, new leader, new management. The energy in the dressing room is great, Fletcher is always at his comical best. We enjoyed the support of the fans, this is a ground I enjoy playing my cricket in. Would love if the fans keep coming out and supporting us.
Imad Wasim: When the match started, we wanted to get around 160-170 but we didn't build partnerships and we played some bad shots at crucial times. The wicket looked like it would turn because of the moisture. If the wickets are like this, we will play plenty of spinners. I feel we bowled really well, if we got two more wickets the game would have been very close. Really honoured to captain, really enjoying my last 3-4 years in cricket. (Message to the fans) Please come and support us. Today was not the result you wanted but hopefully we are going to do better next time.
Waqar Salamkheil | Player of the Match: Today's my first match for St Kitts, I am really happy that I did really well and we won the game. The wicket supported me a lot and I enjoyed. (Relationship with the players from the subcontinent) They are like my brothers, we talk a lot.
22:03 Local Time, 02:03 GMT, 07:33 IST: Chased on a canter! An under par target and the Patriots have been extremely professional about it. Evin Lewis started it off with a hat-trick of fours against Ghazanfar, while Andre Fletcher anchored around. Rakheem Cornwall proved to be a spanner in the works in the middle, as he struck twice post the powerplay and curbed the scoring rate, but the target was always going to be too slim. Alick Athanaze played a breezy knock of 37*, while he was supported by the new skipper Jason Holder as St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have chased this down with five overs to spare. Earlier, it was Salamkheil's four-fer that helped the home side bundle out the Falcons for just 121 runs. Stick around for the presentations.
