After a shambolic display in the recently-concluded Ashes where England were drubbed 4-0, they were looking at the ODI leg of the tour with more gusto than ever, in a bid to turn their fortunes around in a format they have revelled in recent times. However following Australia's back-breaking score of 304 in the first ODI, little had the tourists known that they were in for something special at the top of the order which would not just seal the deal for them but also find a place in the record books.
