Not every great gets to feature in a hundred Tests, and not every great who does so, celebrates it in as much style as Hashim Amla did. The start wasn't as romantic as you would generally associate with Amla's batting - silken strokes, flowing feet and impeccable timing. But once, he got into his own after fighting it out through the first session, Amla started to come into his own. Not to forget JP Duminy's authority over his batting, who took the pressure off an out-of-form Amla, scoring an outstanding hundred, garlanded with a flurry of boundaries.

Not much could be said about Sri Lanka though, who crawled and stumbled as they saw Amla and Duminy take them apart, shot after shot. The only reason to celebrate came very late in the day when Duminy fell at the stroke of Stumps. That aside, it has been South Africa's day and might spill over to the second day too.
