In a gripping day of Test cricket, India moved to 319 for 4 at the close of play on Day 3 in response to England's 537. Murali Vijay (126) and local boy Cheteshwar Pujara (124) put on 209 for the second wicket, batting more than two sessions to lead India's riposte before England came back to pick three wickets in the final session to swing the momentum back in their favour. The visitors conceded at just 2.27 runs per over in the post-lunch session despite not picking any wicket. Stuart Broad, Ben Stokes, Adil Rashid and Zafar Ansari picked up a wicket each for England.
